Hobby Lobby — Local services in Geneva Township

Our 'go to' place for crafts, home decor, fabric, etc. Always a nice selection of items and reasonable prices. Can often find things nowhere else. Checking out is the issue. No scanners; all manual. This visit, there were 2 registers open. One with a customer returning a number of items and the clerk laboriously looking up each item and marking them off on the receipt. Then apparently stymied by a stapler to tack the original receipt and refund receipt together. The next person was handing the cashier each item out of her shopping cart and bagging the item herself before handing the cashier the next item. There were probably a dozen people backed up behind us waiting to pay before someone came to open a 3rd register. And that cashier said she was at the end of her shift and saw the line so stayed to help get people checked out. And this was a Monday night, not a weekend or Black Friday. We were in the store longer to check out than it took to do our shopping. On the verge of abandoning our cart and going elsewhere. Then it turns out they do not issue gift receipts. We went there today. Bought something for my DIY crafts. and the cashier was really inconsiderate. I still have the receipt with me and her name is Jean B. T-9280. I mean its ok for you to talk with your co workers while at work but not when there is a customer in front of you that trying to check out. We were about to ask her, "Would u like us to come back some other time because it seems like we are a big distraction for you". She don't even ask if i have a coupon, tell us what the total amount was, or say when to swipe our card. We are not really sure how to act, are we just gonna stand there and feel stupid or we are going to tell her that "hey we're here", and then we look like the jerk. I love Hobby Lobby - great selection and great prices, but there is really some poor customer service from some of the employees working there - not all, but a few. I think they may need some...

Incredibly gracious! My family and I stopped in to window shop and kill some time. We ended up buying a large, wall hanging, clock that was on sale. As we were loading up the kids the clock slipped and fell breaking the entire glass face. A bit disgruntled with myself for breaking the $100 clock (that was after the 50% off) I went in to notify them that I made a mess of their parking lot with the broken glass. I did not ask for an exchange bc it was completely my fault. The cashier was sympathetic and asked the manager on behalf, and without a question he approved and they let me exchange on the spot! Such a blessing turning a disheartening situation into a positive extension...
