Zero Stars! Wouldnt reccomend to anyone. Compared to Leisure hours or HobbyTown Rockford, this place is the purple spot of the Monopoly board. Other stores seem to have better prices, far more support, accept returns, and most importantly stand by their customers. Ive been in this hobby 25 years..I personally would not recommend Hobbytown Batavia to anybody. They'll try and sneak in bogus labor charges on your receipt (see below). Sorry but I work on my own equipment, and sneaking fake labor charges on receipts is theft...Their "sister store" (owned by the EX-wife of Batavia) in Schaumburg is not any better. In fact, Schaumburg could be worse. I experienced lack of enthusiasm, non-nowledgeable employees, low stock, and an awful shopping experience. Total waste of time. Not a place for young kids either, unless you want them around a bunch of egotistical adults. Dismal business owners dont care about their customers. I will be sharing my experience with fellow RC enthusiasts in the community. Your lack of enthusiasm really shows by all your reviews and poor attitude. When you're in it for the money, it shows. Avoid.

I first heard of HobbyTown as a recommendation from my friend when I found my dad’s old RC10T. I took it to the St Charles location for some repairs and they either didn’t have time or weren’t interested in working on it. When I went to pick it up the employee seemed very upset that no one even looked at it so he quickly went through it and made suggestions to get it up and going. His actions have led me back into the store several more times for some larger purchases. I’ve gotten a Traxxas Sledge, Traxxas Xmaxx and a bunch of parts to rebuild a Traxxas Maxx I bought used. They’ve made great recommendations on batteries and chargers so I can safely charge and use the LiPo batteries the RCs use. On top of having a great selection of RCs and parts my son loves to go there to see the races on the weekends! The hobby isn’t nearly as popular as it was when I was a child so it is nice to see a store with a great group of employees provide a quality experience. We will continue to shop at this location for tour RC needs! There is a Traxxas XRT calling my name. :)

We decided to stop at this fun store called HobbyTown. I was intrigued when I saw the word “Gundam” and “Models” however as soon as you enter their store you get transported to another world. They have so much cool toys, gadgets, kits, and treasure galore. You definitely have to walk up and down the aisles more than once if your picking just one thing because it’s so hard to choose just one thing 😩 From ✈️ planes, boats, RC model cars, LEGO kits, sticker books and even a Pit Room to work on your cars/models! 🤩 You for sure need to come inside to check it out. We found out that they recently moved here from their St Charles location 3 months ago. So no wonder this place seemed new to me since I had the kidney donation surgery 4 months ago. Something changed when we were driving down this parking lot and this HobbyTown was the new shiny thing. Overall it was a great Christmas 🎄 Eve shopping 🛍️ experience and hope you will step inside and take a gander at their products, talk to their awesome staff and gorgeous 👏 Gundam Art Mural. 🤓🧩🪁🚘🚂🪀

We visited this location based on its proximity and the high reviews. After our visit I would say that this is a place that seems great for adults who like toys as hobbies, but that would be it.

My son is interested in RC cars so we got him an entry hobby level car for Christmas, which was chosen because it had the option of swappable and replacement parts. After a couple months of driving, a part went out, and when the online options to replace were infrequent or delayed, I thought a hobbiest store would be able to help. Enter our very pour experience at HobbyTown.

My fault was that I should have called, then I could have dealt with the condescension of the quality of my sons car just with myself, but instead my 11yr old got to be cut off, told that his entry level car was not worth anything, and that there was no help to be had. He and I had a good conversation about how this was an example of what not to do, in normal interaction, or in a professional scenario. So at least thanks for that.

Let me be clear; I know that I am speaking in anger for what happened to my son. So take that as a point of fact. However I’m not apologizing for that either. It shouldn’t have happened. Because it was an entry level car (have I mentioned that it was an entry level car?) I would have been more that okay with a “oh man! Sorry that happened! I wish we could help but we just don’t sell parts for those kinds of cars. Is there any other way I could help?” The result there might have a customer for replacing that en—-....you get the idea.

As it stands, when the time comes, we will not be leveling up with HobbyTown. We will look for...

The owner of this store is a real piece of work. Shop elsewhere shop online this guy doesn't deserve your money he just lost over $1,000 of mine. When I'm looking for a monster truck brushless motor and ESC combo found a possible setup that might fit I didn't know what size my motor mount was so I finally figured out what size my motor mount was and I just called up to the store asking them about it and apparently they didn't have time told me to shop elsewhere have have a nice life this and that because I called them out on selling a product to me that was pulled out of another RC car for $5 less than it sells for brand new on the manufacturer's website with absolutely no return policy once I buy it it's mine basically is what he said. apparently he got mad because I called one of his other stores to find out if they had one of these new in the box or what they had in stock and basically told me to shop elsewhere and have a good life Don't waste your time with this place because apparently if you have a couple of questions about the product that you're buying they have an issue with it. what he didn't realize was me coming in today I was going to not only buy that I was going to buy a complete new radio system with five receivers a couple new lipo batteries And one of their multiple battery chargers. plus any odds are ends that I picked up while I was at the store like probably even a new pair of rims and tires for my monster truck. so today you have won I will gladly take my business elsewhere oh and by the way probably save myself some money and some headache in...
