Yum Mee Chinese restaurant — Restaurant in Bath

I’m really fussy about my Chinese food. The place I usually go to is closed on Monday. I decided to try Yum Mee. To my surprise the food was really good. I ordered the dinner combo sweet and sour chicken with beef teriyaki, fried rice and wonton soup. Crab Rangoons and pork lo mein. The person I was with ordered the kung pao chicken dinner combo with fried rice, beef teriyaki and wonton soup. What I had was really good, sweet and sour chicken the chicken was moist and cooked perfectly fried rice was moist and flavorful, also the beef teriyaki was perfectly cooked. crab Rangoons were great, crunchy on the outside and so good. Pork lo mein was really good, and the wonton soup was great. Portions were large. The person I was with had the kung pao chicken with fried rice and beef teriyaki, she also said the food was really good. Price was reasonable. I got take out and by the time I got home to Topsham from Bath the food was still hot. I only gave 3 stars for atmosphere because yes the furniture is a bit run down but I guess that’s because it’s been well used. People behind the counter were nice. Ordered delivery from here. When my food arrived I gave the driver a generous $10 tip. After he left I went to open my food and found cigarette ashes all over the bag where it was stapled and on the inside of the bag. I called and the owner admitted to me that his driver smokes and will ask him not to anymore. He told me that he will either replace my meal another time or give me a discount. The next time I ordered the owner argued with me about getting my free meal that he originally issued but after a professional discussion gave it to me. When I arrived to pick it up we had a friendly conversation and the driver came from out back screaming, being aggressive, and trying to fight me. Told me “don’t ever order from here again” after I told the owner, “this is what you want representing your company” after the owner removed him from the front to the back of the store he told me not to worry the driver was just crazy and walked me out with my food. This driver is still delivering food for this establishment. I had heard good things about this place so I hope my experience was unusual, but it was pretty bad. The rice they used for the fried rice wasn’t fully cooked so every piece was crunchy. The dumplings were the smallest I’ve ever seen with no more than a teaspoon of filling in each one and they forgot to include the dipping sauce that always goes with them. The egg roll was saturated with so much oil that it dripped all over me when I bit into it. The sesame chicken was pretty much flavorless compared to others I’ve had. And in the “special comment” section of the ordering website I asked them to include a printed menu but they didn’t. I wanted a menu so I could see the descriptions of the menu items, such as what is included in a “dinner special” since the website doesn’t show that. It turns out I won’t need a print menu after all because I won’t be ordering from them again.
