If it hadn’t been for a negative experience I had with one of the employees at this establishment, I would have given this deli a 5 star review. The food was really very good.
I’m gluten free, and my family and I stopped here for lunch while visiting Bath for the day. We got our order and sat down outside. I had just commented to my husband how happy I was that the gluten free bread they use for their sandwiches is actually good, when I realized that they forgot to put chicken in my chicken sandwich. No big deal, I’ve worked food service, and I get that mistakes happen. So I took my sandwich back inside and let the person working the counter know. I wasn’t angry or rude, and we had a little chuckle about it.
I went outside to wait for my sandwich, thinking it might take some time since they were busy, and less than a minute later another employee hollered from their open screen window that my sandwich was ready. She sounded irritated but I didn’t think too much of it. I started walking towards the entrance and she briskly walked out towards me and kind of thrust the sandwich at me. I was a little taken aback but didn’t say anything. She then turned away to walk back inside and goes “you’re welcome” in a snobby tone. I guess I wasn’t gracious enough when I received my chicken sandwich the second time with actual chicken in it. I followed her back in and let the rest of the staff know what she had done, and she pretended like she had said the “you’re welcome” in response to my “thank you”. I hadn’t said thank you, I didn’t think it was necessary since they had screwed up my order, and I was more than gracious when I brought it to their attention. She was straight up being rude.
I might return here, but if this particular employee is working, I will turn around...
Read moreNearly 50 dollars for 3 sandwiches and 2 drinks. The focaccia was actually dry ciabiatta. About 2oz of chicken on the sandwich. Buffalo chicken was not fried, just plain breast.
Editing to add: gluten free certainly explains why the bread was the way it was, however we did not order gluten free bread because gluten free bread is rarely good. Not sure why you took it upon yourself to charge me extra for something I didn't order. There was clearly a mixup behind the counter. I even said "do you think the buffalo chicken will work on the focaccia?" The cashier said "yes, or the spinach wrap would be good", and I said "oh ok yeah I'll try it on the focaccia."
Thanks for sharing the business owner's perspective. Please allow me to share the customer's perspective: there are two components of buffalo chicken, the buffalo sauce and the fried chicken. Fried chicken can be marinated. Nothing on your menu made it clear that it wasn't traditional buffalo chicken.
Also, as a customer, it's not my responsibility to inspect your kitchen to ensure you have the necessary equipment to prepare the food listed on your menu.
Also, 3.5oz is not even a serving. It's simply not enough chicken for a sandwich. I realize costs are up and margins are down... I'd rather pay 14 dollars for a sandwich with an actual single serving of chicken than 12 dollars for a mouthful of chicken.
Small businesses thrive when they listen to feedback, not by blaming my experience on your perception of what I should know about your menu, and by serving the wrong bread (that just so happened to be...
Read moreA BLT should have five things: bacon, lettuce, tomato, a little bit of mayonnaise, and toast. This BLT I ordered was weighted down with globs of hummus and thick slices of cheese, which some people might like but it's not what I ordered. Maybe that's how they justify the $12 price tag . Can't even taste the Cisco bacon or the wilted Romaine they used. The bread left also something to be desired.
Used my debit card with a chip which I always do, and the woman at the desk creepily greeted me by my first name without even looking at my card. I also was automatically opted into their star point system and started receiving text messages which I disliked and unsubscribed from immediately. Somewhat of a privacy violation to automatically link my card with my phone number. This is never happened to me before and I find it intrusive.
On top of all this it was a clear covid hazard in there. Children behind the counter doing who knows what and nobody wearing masks.
It's too bad because it's a good location with a quirky local vibe. Next time I get lunch in bath I will just...
