This was my first time at Saltgrass in years. I had an unsavory experience with my food the last time, and the first time I honestly was not impressed, so I gave up on them. However, I decided to give them another try last night. HUGE MISTAKE! I won’t fuss about the dirty carpet smell (they allowed us to sit outside instead), the very dull and monotoned lady who seated us using absolutely no enthusiasm (fine… I understand different personalities), the old and cold brussel sprouts and green beans, the chicken fried chicken that was not fried to a crisp… I honestly can get passed all that. The TERRIBLE part was how a server hocked mucus SO loudly that my head sprung up from the dish. We were seated outside. I looked up and a guy opened the door (as he hocked the mucus), looked me square in the eyes and STILL chose to spit onto the ground. I was DISGUSTED to say the least. I definitely could NO LONGER enjoy my food after that. Some will say that I’m being overly picky, but come on guy… you work in a restaurant handling people’s food for Pete’s sake. It bothered my sooo badly that I contacted the “manager” after I left. She was not available during the time that I left bc I would have spoken to here immediately. The “manager” name Cinnamon decided to go back and forth with me about how the waiter did what was “most sanitary “ by spitting on the ground instead of excusing himself to go into a restroom or utilize a trash bin. She clearly doesn’t understand customer service and restaurant etiquette. In my opinion , if a server will do something that grotesque in front of customers… while they sit and eat… I don’t want to imagine what ANY of those people can do to and with my food. Early into the “discussion” (she talked over me) I let her know my complaint was not about wanting ANYTHING other than for her to acknowledge my concern and genuinely coach the waiter on decorum. Instead she continued to downplay my experience and brag about how many compliments she’s received via online reviews. Well, Cinnamon… there’s a first Sunday in every month. I can’t speak for others, but for myself you truly dropped the ball this time. And not only did Cinnamon disregard my concerns, she boastfully told me to contact her GM and corporate (very condescending). Needless to say, Saltgrass has LOST my business for sure this time. I worked the restaurant industry as a bartender/server for 20 years… etiquette, customer service and even more so, customer experience is EVERYTHING. As I stated prior to, I could’ve gotten passed everything else. But, being mocked for reporting to “management” that I received a HORRIBLE experience is boarder line treason. I paid my hard earned money, was hoping for at least a decent experience… and unfortunately that opportunity was not afforded to me. I have officially lost trust in...
Read moreI visited this restaurant on December 26, 2017 while visiting family. I order a simple Chicken Fried chicken with a sweet potato. The Chicken was so hard (over cooked) that is was dark on one side and I could not chew it and my sweet potato was hard/cold because it wasn't cooked. I informed the manager on site because the waiter had not came back to check on the table of 5. They offer to recook my food and did however because they forgot about me by the time I got my food (after I grab a different waiter) everyone at my table had finished eating. So I no longer wanted the food. The manager/waiter still charged us for my meal. Being a Landry's club member for over 6 years I received a email asking me to rate my visit, so I put all of this in my review of my visit. I did get a phone call from the manager on staff the next day once I made it back home to Houston, TX. He apologized and offer to treat me to a free meal on my next visit. However, I explained that I lived in Houston and it may be another year before I come back so it would be nice if he just allowed my brother-in-law whom lives in Baton Rouge to have the free meal that would be great since he loves Saltgrass that would be really nice. He agreed and got his name and stated that my brother-in-laws name would be in the manager's log. So tonight January 27, 2018 my brother-in-law and his family goes to the restaurant to eat and decided to use his free meal only to find out his name is not on a log or any conversation that I have had. This is the most unprofessional place and the worst Saltgrass I have ever encountered. The service was not good and the food was horrible. I wonder if they are allowed to just cook what/how they want and if they are not held to the same customer service expectations as all the other locations. Because of this experience I will writ this in every rating site and every blog I come across and I will have my in-laws/husband do the same. People are how they stay in business and if nothing can/will be done then EVERYONE that thinks about eating there should be aware of the possibility of not...
Read moreZero stars would be more appropriate. I visited Saltgrass Steak House on my birthday, July 20th with 7 other ladies. I called beforehand to ask about the wait time and I was told 45 minutes - 1 hour but that my name would be placed on the list immediately. This was perfect because I was hosting a party that started at 10. We arrived at 7:20 and again I was told that we had a 45 minute wait so we decided to hang out at the bar. Our buzzer still hadn't gone off at 8, so I checked with the hosted and pointed out that there had been 2 empty tables directly behind the lobby that would accommodate us, she replied and said 15 more minutes. At 8:30 one of the ladies in our party asked why we hadn't been seated and the hostess said that she'd been waiting on her manager's approval to seat us at one of the 2 available tables. After speaking to the manager he advised that he didn't have a waiter for those tables. We were seated at 9:20 at the table that had been available an hour prior. After being seated for about 30 minutes a waitress finally appeared to take our drink and appetizer orders. 10:25 came, still no drinks and no appetizers. The waitress came again (35 minutes later) with appetizers and to tell us that she was still working on getting our drinks from the bar, at which time we cancelled them. The next issue, we all order steaks medium-well that all came out well done, the manager agreed that they were overcooked and that since the crowd had dissipated, he would have us new steaks to our table in 10 minutes. I was livid and asked for our check. I got the check at 10:57 but still no steak. (Reminder: My birthday party started at 10:00). After paying for the check I finally got my food, boxed to go at 11:17. In my 34 years I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED WORSE SERVICE. This restaurant is understaffed and run more like a Wendy's than a steak house. It is my prediction that if this type of service continues then the days of Saltgrass are numbered. I will never eat there...
