So tell me why I get out of work at 1 a.m., I'm hungry, and the only place open is Denny's. I don't even like going there because the workers are nasty and careless. But I decided to go tonight simply because I was starving, and there was nothing else open. I didn't think they could possibly mess up an omelet that bad. After we got there, we waited 20 minutes. Then another 20 minutes went by, and I had to call the waitress over to let her know the rude waiter still hadn't taken our order. She acted confused, like she had no idea, and finally took our order. We waited another 20 minutes and watched a group of people cuss them out because their food was messed up and not fully cooked. After that group left, this young lady working there-completely rude and without a single respectful bone in her body-sneezed over the food. Remember, there were only three people there: me, my brother, and another person who already had their food. I watched a fresh plate of onion rings we ordered come out and sit in the food pickup area. We literally saw her put her fingers in them, pick out the onion rings from the top, and dig through them to find overcooked pieces, which she put on a second plate she was eating from. At first, I thought, no way she's that stupid to do something like that while we're watching. After getting tired of waiting, I told the other waitress I didn't want the food. The girl then had the nerve to bring the plate over and swear she was eating her own, which only had two onion rings on it-the same onion rings we watched her pick off our plate. So after sitting there for over an hour, we still left hungry and absolutely furious. I'd advise no one to eat anywhere in Battle Creek, especially not that Denny's on Beckley Rd. It needs to be shut down completely. The other waitress also said she saw her doing it and says she does it all the time which makes her no better. absolutely despise Battle Creek, I never thought I could ever experience something like that. Like how...
Read moreThis morning was the most uncomfortable restaurant experience of my life. All four employees present spent most of the time I was there loudly swearing and complaining about one of their managers. Sometimes they were outright yelling as they complained about how the manager was too young to be giving them orders, or sent them home early, or asked them to clean the walls. It all made for an extremely unpleasant breakfast.
A few other assorted notes:
When I arrived, I was immediately asked if I was ordering to go. When I said I was eating there, they looked visibly annoyed and just gestured for me to sit down.
There was only one other customer there at the time, but it took a very long time before anyone took my order. When a waitress did come up, it was with a blunt "what do you want?" attitude.
When I asked what kinds of grains were in the 9-grain pancake (I have an intolerance to certain grains), she just gave a non-committal shrug. I completely understand not knowing, but it would have been nice if she had said so instead of giving a dismissive gesture.
The food itself was good overall, though the bacon was cold.
I wouldn't have bothered writing about any of these things though if it were not for the constant swearing about their manager. I've overheard employees complaining before, but I've never seen every single employee present at a place behave this way so loudly and openly in front of customers.
At first when I listened in I was actually sympathetic to these employees. I arrived at about 5:40 AM, so I expect this was near the end of an overnight shift, and having worked the night shift at McDonald's in the past, I know how it feels to be almost out at that time. I also know how it feels to have a manager you don't really get along with. But the more they swore and badmouthed her, the more convinced I was that their manager had very good reason to be...
