We decided to try Uptown Grill this weekend during a weekend stay in Saginaw. Wow! I am so happy we made the 15 minute drive to Bay City! The lobby was full with anxious patrons which was our sign this was a good sign of a good place to be. It was very pretty inside and clean. The coffee shop next door was also full of customers. We walked over there to check it out while we waited but decided to just stay at Uptown Grill. It was nearly noon on a Saturday and we were told there might be a 15 minute wait. We waited 5 minutes and there was a table ready for the two of us. We were seated and found the menu displayed nicely under the glass table top. Germ free! Our waitress, Samantha, was professional, friendly, welcoming and proficient. She was able to take both our beverage and food orders all at once. The coffee was hot and good and came in nice, large mugs that felt comfortable nestled in our hands. (Recommendation: I would love to see a little pitcher with real cream rather than the individual creamer packets. They may offer that - I should have asked.) My husband and I both ordered the 3 eggs and meat item on the menu. Our eggs were made to order. I loved my basted eggs and bacon and my husband thought his scrambled eggs and sausage were very tasty. We both opted for the specialty pancakes and we were amazed!! I had the delicious sweet potato pancakes with the brown sugar and pecans on top. Oh. My. Goodness. Sooooooo goooood!!!! I was full and boxed up half and can’t wait to dip into the leftovers later!!! I wish I had the recipe. Seriously the best pancakes I have ever had in my life! I didn’t even put syrup on them. They were perfect as is!! We are so happy to have found this little gem. The place was hopping, the servers were pleasant and helpful. They looked like they enjoyed being there as much as I did which made me so happy. Uptown Grill, thanks for helping make a special memory for us. I can’t wait to come back! I want to try the Baklava...

Visited 3-11-18 This was our 3rd time eating here:
Strike 1 Waited over 5 minutes for menus and drink order. (You may think, what's the big deal? You had to wait a bit) We were literally the only ones in there. And 4 employees stood at the bar talking the whole time. Oblivious to us.
Strike 2 I ordered a Mexican omelette. (Not sure what their name for it is) Had chorizo, avocado, peppers, onions. Etc... Avocado is a tough one to work with. You can't cut it up early, otherwise it turns brown in a couple hours. Well this avocado was black and slimy. It paired well with the wax based cheese they filled the omelette with. (You know how you can tell cheap cheese? All oily, and waxy, and stringy? Yeah that's this crap)
Strike 3 Once our food was on the table, the waitress never walked by again. My coffee cup was empty. My wife's water was empty. We finished our breakfast without beverages... They did get refilled, when she brought the change.
Random other rants. The place was dirty. There was a fork under the table in the corner. There was food and debris on the floor all over the place. (I understand restaurants get dirty, there's hundreds of people in and out...) this was at opening, on a sunday. As stated above, They were empty.
We were given plates of food. While there was no silverware on the table. Non existent waitress then went to get silverware, while our food sat. Which didn't matter, because it came out cold.
This place charges a premium price, for a substandard product. Portion sizes do not match the price. If you're charging a premium price, you had better get a lot of food, or it better be damn good. It's neither here.
So, my opinion. Stay away. Bay City has a plethora of better places, and they not gouging with...
Read moreFirst time here (Leaving now).. received uncooked chicken and under cooked blueberry pancakes. Ask waitress to please replace the pancakes and also told her I didn’t want the omelette (being “that’s how the chicken comes, precooked).. they brought me new pancakes and another omelette anyway. I told her and also another gentleman that I did not want the omelette. He insisted I take it with me I told him I had a long drive so that wouldn’t work and again, that I didn’t want the omelette. He brought me a bill STILL including the un-eaten, untouched omelette. I stated to them both that I didn’t want nor eat the omelette and that I would only pay for what I had eaten and I would do that with No problem. THe guy pushed the omelette back at me. I again told them I’ll pay for what I ate. The waitress who was still standing there rudely snatched the bill, mumbled something and then loudly said “you can’t not pay for food just because you don’t like it” with confusion on my face I said. I’ll pay for what I ate.. she told me to leave and not come back! Still confused I said “ok”.. weird to me because I love food and don’t mind paying for food I eat. But for uneaten food?
Response to reply: What you are saying is not correct! I stand firm on not paying for food that is not cooked to my liking. It’s ok to not be welcomed back especially being the way I was talked to by your waitress. I am a business owner as well so I do understand customer service… won’t go back and forth with you though. Have a...
