I was really excited to try this new Vietnamese spot, but sadly it missed the mark for me. I understand it’s a new age of dining, but having to order from a kiosk, seat ourselves, and still be prompted for a mandatory tip before experiencing any service felt a little off.
The waitress only came by once to drop off our food and we never saw her again—no drink refills, no check-in, and we had to flag her down just to ask for condiments… which weren’t even on the table like you’d expect at a traditional Vietnamese restaurant. After waiting for a while, I honestly gave up.
As for the food, the pho was the only thing that felt truly authentic. I’m big on bánh mì and was so disappointed they didn’t offer a traditional one—just modern twists that didn’t feel rooted in Vietnamese flavors.
I get wanting to modernize the experience, but it really lost the warm, flavorful, and welcoming charm I love about Vietnamese cuisine. From the vibe and menu, it’s pretty clear this place is most likely Japanese-owned, and while I’m all for fusion, it’s important to be transparent when labeling a restaurant as Vietnamese. Right now, it feels more like a trendy twist than a genuine representation of the culture and cuisine. Hoping they...
Read moreI tried Pho Express in Bayonne for the first time today, and I am so glad I did!
The first thing that stood out to me was how clean and welcoming the restaurant was. I ordered takeout using their self-service kiosk, which looks like a big tablet. As soon as I walked in, a young lady greeted me right away and kindly helped me through the entire ordering process. She was so friendly, patient, and helpful that I was ready to give this place 5 stars based on her customer service alone.
But then came the food and it was absolutely delicious! I ordered the chicken pho, a side of fried rice, pork gyoza, and a passion fruit boba tea. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and a true 10/10.
Between the excellent service, spotless atmosphere, and amazing food, Pho Express has definitely gained a repeat customer. I’ll definitely be...
Read moreMy friend and I decided to try this new resto. for we are fans of Vietnamese food. We were excited and happy because we don’t have to go to Jersey City just to savor Vietnamese cuisine .We only ordered the fresh spring roll with pork, rice topped with small slices of pork , some shredded carrots and daikon salad thinking it’s the grilled pork with lemon grass and 2 taro bubble tea. We were disappointed with the taste because it’s not the authentic Vietnamese food we used to eat and the pork doesn’t taste fresh! There’s always room for improvement, it’s hard to start a business but strive hard for good taste and quality in order to build and gain clientele! Take note, food presentation is also important, make sure what you have in your menu photos are same when served!...
