The service was excellent. Unfortunately, my eggs were over cooked. I tried 3 times to get the attention of the manager / owner - operator. They were busy and preoccupied. So I finally gave up trying and eat around the over cooked eggs. Finally the owner operator came by slow enough to notice my clean plate except for the two untouched eggs. She took note and then kept walking. In a breakfast restaurant I wager most owners would ask about that to make sure everything was all right. I finally got her attention - the 4th attempt. In a nut shell she had a terrible attitude from the start and blamed me for not having the eggs replaced immediately and cut me short as i tried to explain trying to get her attention. The owner offered to get me two more eggs; I explained that we had finished breakfast. She told me to have my eggs replaced if this happens again next time I go there. Then she proceeded to walk away - clearly finished with the subject. I stopped her and told her I was prepared to pay for the breakfast if she though that was reasonable. She made me repeat why I hadn't spoken up sooner. Her attitude made it clear once again that it was my fault. She asked if the server had asked me how my food was. I said "no" but I explained the server was terrific and that she was very busy with several tables; and that I did not fault her at all. (The server was a very helpful girl of about 16). The owner then proceeded to chew out the server in front of us - I feel this was over done and in a an unnecessarily harsh tone and was a bit unfair to the server. Since she was clearly so concerned about customer service - chewing out the server as she did - so I asked the owner why she didn't ask me about the food herself when she noticed the untouched eggs on an otherwise empty plate? The owner/operator said that the eggs looked normal and that is why she didn't ask about them - even though I had eaten all but the eggs in my egg breakfast. I wish I could upload the photo of what the manager saw of my eggs so you can see what the manager considers normal. Personally I am far more concerned about an owner who doesn't care about providing a bad meal than I do about a very busy server doing her best. The owner begrudgingly offered to pay half the meal. So I left an egg breakfast joint without having eggs but did have a large helping of indigestion due to how the management handled the situation and how she mistreated the server - So I needed to say something. My wife who frequented Maxwells said her food was just fine, but not as good as in the past, and guesses that management has changed. We will go elsewhere...
Read moreI'd like to start out by saying I've never dined here before but knew this place was in the area. This was my boyfriend's pick because there's not much selection on the far Northside/Brown Deer area in way of breakfast.
We found a parking spot and things looked busy, possibly packed, they weren't. We were immediately greeted and told to follow her (admittedly I didn't hear this, my boyfriend did). I follow, my boyfriend behind me and before we are even seated we are caught off guard and asked if we want coffee. That's the only time we were asked about beverages. I opted not to order anything to drink due to this but we both normally would have ordered more than just a coffee.
Coffee comes for my boyfriend and waters are brought to our table. We get some extra time with the menu as I stated we've never been here before. The menu is large and quite wordy.
We placed our orders and waited..... for quite awhile.
The first food to arrive at our table isn't ours. Simple mistake.
Eventually our food arrives. But it's not all ours, or accurate. We both ordered the 2 eggs with meat and toast with crispy hashbrowns.
What arrives are both plates with our meats and eggs and hashbrowns and a plate of pancakes.
We inform our waitress neither of us ordered pancakes, she says we can keep them and try them and asks what we ordered. Our toast arrives and this is where things start to go even more downhill.
Our toast is barely toasted, I can't vouch for the bfs as his was rye but looked soggy as well (he agreed it wasn't toasted). My "toast" was merely blinked at by the toaster then slathered with butter. I didn't bother eating it so the grape jelly I asked for upon ordering that was promptly delivered before my food was a waste. I noticed an orange splotch of something was on my plate. Nothing I ordered was orange. I tried wiping it off before stopping to take a picture. We both ordered extra crispy hashbrowns and as evident by my photo they arrived looking wildly different. His tasted stale and mine had zero flavor but were the better looking of the 2.
I should have sent my dirty plate back and asked that my toast actually be toasted. At this point I was just over it and not impressed. I didn't want my boyfriend to have to wait for me and I just wanted to leave. I also feel that the waitress should have noticed the dirty plate and refused to bring the "toast" out looking the way it did.
Overall the service was okay. We both immediately agreed that we...
Read moreI have never had a more horrible experience than I did here a couple days ago. Rosa was so incredibly rude when I called to ask if I could pick up the items that were missing from my door dash delivery. She was unable to look up my order for some reason and informed me that it must of been picked up at the Wauwatosa location. I pulled up my doordash order that proved that my order was picked up at the Fox Point location. She proceeded to yell at me over the phone and tell me that she couldn’t help me and didn’t know what to tell me. All I wanted was the bagel, cream cheese and gyro sauce that was missing from my order. Simple items. She refused to help me over the phone so I went in. I showed her my order and that it was fulfilled at their location. She proceeded to tell me (in a raised voice) that what I was showing her told her nothing! She yelled and argued with me in front of a full dining room. I then told her once again that I needed the bagel, cream cheese and gyro sauce that was missing from my order. She finally went back to the kitchen to get my missing items. I was so appalled at her behavior that I asked to speak to the manager. Wendy, wasn’t there (it was a Sunday) but supposedly was going to return the next day. I called yesterday to speak to her and was told that she won’t be in for another week and there’s no assistant manager. How do you run a restaurant without a manager? I was told Gus would return my call; apparently he’s covering for the time being but isn’t actually a manager. I have yet to hear from him which is why I’m writing this review.
Ultimately, the service and food at this establishment has really plummeted since it reopened. This is echoed in several other reviews. Save your time and money. There are far better restaurants...
