King's BBQ — Restaurant in Baytown

My family and I have been dining here for many years and thoroughly enjoy this restaurant. I will do my best to be impartial in this review but this King's location is one of my favorites.

Positive observations:

The restaurant is usually very clean, well lit, and while simple in design, maintains good aesthetics. I am always pleased with the food. It is well prepared and meets my expectations for consistency of quality. My favorites include the fried chicken sandwich, the barbecue baked potato, and the baked potato casserole. The french fries are also very good and come out hot and delicious (especially when dipped into the house barbecue sauce). The staff is VERY friendly. They carry a down-to-earth demeanor and cause me to feel valued as both a customer and a person. The gentleman (whose name I can't seem to recall) that manages the restaurant will, when on duty, make occasional visits to all of the customers to greet and make sure their needs are met. He does this with a sincere friendliness that suggests he enjoys both his work and his customers. There appears to be little to no personnel turnover as I see the same friendly faces and am greeted in a familiar way, almost like a friend. The apparent lack of turnover also suggests that the staff is satisfied with their employment and likely invest more of themselves into it.

Opportunities for improvement:

I have to dig deep to find any issues, but all I can think of is that the large photo of Marilyn Monroe (pop-icon style art) may not be the most appropriate way to decorate the men's bathroom. Sorry, but that's the only constructive criticism I can think of.

Literally ordered a door dash and it was the poorest quality I’ve ever seen in my life. I got a Fing wing on my bbq 3 meat plate for my chicken. A wing????? Fries were soggy and I got like 7 total fries. Drink was missing. No bbq sauce on my 3 meat plate which included my 1 single chicken wing. Gave them money for ranch it was missing. Places like this scam off the top with deliveries and if they leave the drink and ranch and give people a chicken wing instead of what they ordered that adds up as a ton of stolen money for the owner. Scrape a little off the top from everybody and that’s a nice little bonus. My brisket was literally white and looks like it was boiled. Would like to get my money back from what the lazy people stole from me. And don’t respond back with a standard form message saying please reach out to us. If you employees literally produce the food that was sent to me, I would wipe the entire place clean of employees...

Had issues with my order being cold , not all ready when we arrived and when I asked for 3 baked potatoes with extra bbq sauce on the side and ranch dressings it wasn’t there. When I called the man told me well that they were busy , I continued to tell him that when he was done giving me excuses could I return for the missing condiments. I told him I spent 80 dollars and that I was unhappy. He said that lots of people had spent 100 dollars in there tonight. The man was yelling at me and I was yelling back. I have never been treated like this anywhere. He argued and made excuses and was totally rude. I asked if he was the mgr or owner and he said yes. When my daughter went to get the missing things he gave her a piece of cake like that was what I wanted. I just wanted what I paid for and oh I’m sorry come get your things. Not someone hollering at me making me feel like I was a bother. Unhappy and will think twice...
