Schlotzsky's — Restaurant in Baytown

I've actually eaten here several times in the last two years. I'm usually so hungry, I forget to take pics and do a review, most of my visits to this location was because I had family in the hospital and they wanted something other than hospital food.

I've never been disappointed with them until yesterday. Let me explain: The food was great but the young lady that used to work the drive thru wasn't there, and the guy that took her place, although he wasn't rude, he also wasn't as friendly. He was in work mode though and as an ex supervisor, I would of been proud of him for that.

As an aging, disabled woman, who doesn't get out of the house much, I enjoy getting to know people, when I do. So, a little disappointed with the lack of conversation before my food was ready. The last girl, who worked the drive thru, she was in her early twenties, had just moved in with her new beaux, had a bandage wrapped around her hand from a third degree burn she got from work. So she talked to me about the hospital and was genuinely interested in getting to know me too. That was nice, since I have a daughter her age.

The only other thing I was disappointed with was when I got home and opened the bag, the smell of cigarette smoke was overwhelming. The sandwich tasted great as usual, once I pulled it out of that wrapper, which reeked of cigarette smoke. I'm allergic to cigarette smoke, so it made me start coughing. That's never fun. Other than that, the turkey bacon club was delicious, the tea was excellent and the jalapeno chips were awesome! 👍👍

I've never eaten inside this location, so I couldn't tell you many facts about it, but when I drive by the windows, it looks very clean inside.

As hot as it gets in Texas, it's rare to find a restaurant, with good tea that hasn't soured. So a good, cold glass of tea, was what keeps me coming back to this location.

I do wish they had one closer to my house. Both Schlotzsky's near me are over 10 miles from where I live. That don't sound like much, but in Houston traffic, 10 miles could take 45 minutes to drive. When we entered the establishment the staff seemed annoyed and the cashier was irritated I was asking questions about the sandwich. When we went to sit down the window seal and ledge was nauseatingly dirty. The tables also seemed to not be cleaned from the last person either. I thought establishments where supposed to be cleaning more because of covid-19 but i guess not. When we asked for lids the lady at the window was very unpleasant and told us to go to the other window. She was basically saying don’t bother me. The server brought the soup over and it was cold so we asked for them to warm it up. They seemed very annoyed that we asked them to do their job. They also left the sandwich’s on the window for a long time until they got cold. They also didn’t warm up the soup either. Also for the astonishing price I would expect them to get the sandwiches right but they got 3/4 of the orders wrong. Overall the staff was very unpleasant and rude. ZERO STARS...I will NEVER go back to this location on Garth. When i got to the window to pay I handed the girl my card and phone with my free sandwich reward showing on screen, she swiped the card then told me she couldn't redeem my reward that was counting down. I then asked her to cancel and re-ring with my code and she said she couldn't. WTH!! She then disappeared for several minutes and i requested to speak to the manager. She told me he (Eugene) was not there so i called the phone number for the place, no answer, and the voicemail was full so I could not leave a message. HELLO, customer service, where are you???
