Very disappointing experience at Hemingway’s. We had found it on BringFido and stopped for lunch on our road trip to Georgia. We sat down at an outside table with our pup, and I went to order sandwiches at the bar. I was given my Pepsi and told to pay after we’d had our food. There was a bowl of water outside, but nothing else about the place was dog friendly. After waiting for almost 40 minutes with an increasingly cranky puppy, I went in to ask about our food and it became apparent that they had forgotten our order - I was told it would be another 15 mins. When I said we’d rather leave and offered to pay for my Pepsi, the lady who had taken my order just waved me off, but without even saying sorry - I appreciate that she must have been rushed off her feet, but a little kindness would go a long way after wasting so much of our time. In our experience, Hemingways was neither dog friendly nor people friendly - we...
Read moreThis is hands down one of the best bars in beaufort, everytime you walk in you immediately feel like your own family is making your drinks and taking care of you. This is one of the most welcoming bars ever! I've seen posts before about them being homophobic which is a pretty bold statement, its obvious they aren't local. Considering gay dance party Sundays and some of their staff/half the regulars are gay. This is truly an "everyone is welcome in" type of bar. Its the downtown local watering hole! You can't go to another bar and have the bartenders randomly hand out, cheese, sliders, cupcakes or any other random snack. These people spend their own money just to have an occasional treat for us which says a lot, they love us as much as we love them. Anyone who hasn't been here needs to go, yall are seriously missing out on a beautiful view, delicious drinks and...
Read moreNot pet friendly. The sign on the door clearly states “Pet Friendly” and when we went inside with 2 small dogs the bartender immediately told us pets were not allowed and we could only be seated outside (it was cold and windy out- a rude suggestion). I felt she made it up on the spot, probably didn’t feel like working on an otherwise lazy Saturday afternoon (we were a party of 6 people and the place was empty). We took a look at the kitchen and it looked questionably clean. We decided eating here wasn’t worth it. Going to give some constructive feedback to the owners here- this is a tourist destination and when you don’t deliver what you post on your door it will tick off people from all across the state of South Carolina and beyond. We will not consider this place again on...
