Rock n crab horrible experience I have never endured this type of service party of 12 gratuity was not explained before being seated at the arrival we were informed of 1 hour wait ok fine Party of 8 comes after us and are seated in the party room with 30 other seats vacant so why not first come first served ? So we’re seated after waiting almost 2 hours vs 1 . Drinks take forever to come from the bar they were watered down ok fine I’ll just buy another . Food cold and dry one person ordered extra shrimp no crawfish they bring her platter out with crawfish she informs them 3 more times she can’t have crawfish she ordered shrimp 4th trip they come back and say here you are we picked the crawfish out and we’ll bring you more shrimp . Now they bring my nephew a tender basket but it had sweet potatoes fries being a kid he digs in once they realize they gave him the wrong platter they attempt to take them back no you will not he’s already eating you will not take that food to another table just charge us for the fries. So here we are ready to pay and each receipt has 18% gratuity we had 4 tickets gratuity was 25+ on each so I asked to speak with a manager because had we been informed of the 18% we would’ve sat separately. Manager comes I speak with her very nice lady with a bob she informs me the waitress should’ve informed us before seating us . She goes to get another manager. This managers name is Lakey. She comes to the table ready to argue when we’re simply asking questions. I let her know we weren’t informed about the 18% of course all restaurants charge gratuity so it’s expected but 18% wow . I told her well if I had known that we would’ve sat separately . You’ll never guess what Lakey said ! Well if y’all walk in together and are seated separately but in the same section gratuity still applies oh my gosh that’s unbelievable right !? She begins to get loud, not trying to make a scene because people are obviously now staring I asked for her superior Lakey claims she has none she is the boss well lakey you are not because I know for a fact you’re not the owner if you are acting in such a manner so please contact them she informs me she can not goes to get the police the nice officers informs her that she needs to deal with it or call someone else. Lakey proceeds to walk around punching her hand. Seems like Lakey needs some sort of counseling or more training to work in a people/service oriented environment.I called boil city for their owners contact Krystal was a doll and informed me that she could not give out their contact info but she could pass mine along or have the manager at rock n crab contact the owner. Lakey definitely lacks customers service and obviously lacks communication skills because there was no solid answer to any...
Read moreTLDR: Great for Seafood Boil and themed atmosphere. Other menu items not recommended.
When you walk into a restaurant and the first thing you see is a sign from management that states "ALL SALES FINAL, NO REFUNDS!!," one might begin to wonder why its necessary to have such posting...
The Seafood "City Boil" -recommended for serving one, MKT Price at $26 July 2023- was good! Clearly their specialty - Stick with the boils! Great variety of crab, shrimp, potatoes, corn, and .. egg. (Side note to the cook.. Egg in a crawfish boil is obviously going to be overcooked, and it was. Not a fan of the iron and sulfur eggs.)
Shrimp Two Ways ("Etouffee" and fried shrimp) was disappointing. DO NOT RECOMMEND The first mistake was the absence of appropriate flavor development from the basic cajun Trinity (mirepoix) of onion, celery, and bell pepper. First off, The bell pepper was completely absent from this holy combo, and it was replaced by a few large slices of white mushroom. Worse, ALL vegetables and mushrooms were under cooked, with onion cold in the middle, not yet translucent, mushrooms still white, and celery raw. Flavor development of the base beyond roux will not happen if ingredients are added raw or stirred in just before serving. Fried Shrimp were overly greasy - the oil wasn't hot enough. This was all either because the Etouffee was not already prepared and was made in a rush job upon ordering (it arrived significantly after the other food was served) OR the cooks are unversed in how to prepare anything that isn't boiled and the dish needs to be removed from the menu. I'm sad to have eaten this dish in Beaumont, TX of all places - I really expected more. (Perhaps this is why management posted the "No Refunds" sign).
If you drink Barefoot wine, this wine list is right up your alley. Otherwise, I recommend exploring their creative rotating mixed drink specials.
Atmosphere was fun and well planned! Service was polite and exceptional, despite the nature of warnings posted by management.
To mgmt: To level up the customer experience instead of focusing solely on your bottom line... Rather than exclaiming the lack of refunds, I'd recommend fixing the issue with why people are requesting them in the first...
Read moreI give this place all the stars! Me and my husband saw this place scroll on his Facebook... before Christmas we went to Texas (since we are from Louisiana) to bring a family member Home and decided to stop here on our way back. At the time it was me and my husband and three of my four children and one of those being our newborn, our waiter was super nice super helpful and very suggestive. Since it was our first time he suggested several menu items for us to try to which we’d taken his advice. The loaded crab fries are off the charts good. Me and my husband decided to order the $99 boil tray I can’t remember what it’s called at the moment but we got all the flavors and we got it spicy and that one tray was shared with me and my husband and my 11-year-old. And we still had some to take home. Definitely worth the buck, they didn’t hold back on spice, seasoning, juice, or product. It’s probably the best boil I’ve ever had at a seafood restaurant. Joe’s crab shack is really really high on my list and this place definitely tops it. Then I decided to go back with my best friend as a girls date. I spoke so highly about it to her that she wanted to go. So we took a day and went and again ordered the $99 boil tray And The king crab fries and again did not disappoint. We travel to Texas quite often, and I can guarantee this place will be a pitstop either on the way to or on the way from where we’re going. It’s so good that we plan to go here often. As a matter of fact we are getting ready to go here now as a couples date with my best friend and her husband and mine. This place is by far the best and again our waiter the second time was just as awesome as our waiter the first time. We need one of these in Louisiana so we don’t have to travel an hour and 10 minutes lol!! Hands down you won’t regret...
