First off I want to say I do NOT recommend this place for the service alone. That being said my experience here started off going very well. When I came in I was greeted warmly and place was clean and smelled delightful. I had a large take out order and there was a taller again woman who assisted me. She was very friendly and helpful. As it was a large order I asked her to repeat it back to me to ensure nothing got missed and she had it written down perfectly and even offered me a water while I waited for my food. That's pretty much the end of the good customer service I received here. After that she was gone and was replaced by a shorter white female who seemed friendly enough at first. I asked her to add on 2 drinks with no ice and 4 sauces (2 yum yum and 2 ginger). She said of course and she would add the drinks to the bill and just throw the sauces in the bag for me. Now flash forward over an hour waiting for the food (which seemed a bit excessive as they weren't busy but perhaps they were short staffed) and The little white woman comes to the front and let's me know my order is ready. I had a feeling to double check things plus I didn't receive my drinks. In one bag I discover my drinks are in large soup containers with ice. Annoyed but figured it's a small thing and decided to let it go. Next I find I'm missing 3 gyoza, sashimi, there was a fried rice that wasn't mine. Then I notice my fried ice cream was put into those Styrofoam boxes that don't close fully and was nearly at the bottom of a big file with hot food layered on top. My salad was also mixed in with it. So now there's melted ice cream all over the bag and I have a hot salad. I asked the woman if she could fix these issues. She rolled her eyes and snatched the bag away. She comes back with new bill and it's about $30 higher. Those sauces she said she would throw in for me she decided to charge me a dollar for each one plus tacked in extra ones I didn't request I ended up being charged over $10 in small sauce cups when I only asked for 6 total. (2 yum yum & 2 ginger with her and originally asked for 2 eel sauces with the other woman). The white lady told me it's an upcharge for extra sauces- when I asked her about her saying she would "just throw them in" and not mentioning an extra cost until now plus there should've been sauces included with the meals. She said she would fix that when I gave her the payment but she didn't.. she then goes to the back to grab the bag that should've had the corrected/missing items. I check this one and find that yet again she put the ice cream and salad at the bottom of the hot food but yet had the sashimi in a bag to itself. I'm upset now with all the attitude and upcharges this woman has given me but still trying to be cordial and asked her if she bagged the order last time and this time. She said "yeah is there a problem with that" with attitude again so now the best I could politely say was "sooo you put the salad and ice cream in the bottom of a hot food bag again?" She stared blankly at me like I was an idiot and huffed snatched the ice cream and salad and threw them in a separate bag upside down. Then slid my receipt and card on the counter and informed me I can leave tip. I did not leave a tip. I get to the car just ready to get tf outta this place and look over the receipt. She decided to add on an extra $13 charge for something I didn't even know what it was an didn't receive either. I contemplated disputing the charge on my card but decided she can consider that mystery charge her tip and me not ever coming back. I will say outside of dealing with her the food was overall delightful and fresh. My family really enjoyed the food but didn't like that there was no crispy bottom on the gyoza- they were just seemed the Chinese way not like gyoza traditionally are made but they still tasted great. Outside of that the food was exceptional. But due to the litte bitter Becky I won't...
Read moreI crave Japanese steakhouse hibachi grill with a sushi appetizer quite regularly, but it definitely is expensive fare, so we only go about once every 3-4 months. The food is always amazing, and we always have leftovers to take home for lunch. Today, the chef was quite free and easy about squirting "20 second shots" of saki into my mouth until it was overflowing. I've never been able to guzzle, so I only get as much as I can fit into an overflowing mouthful. It seemed that the reward for making it to 20 seconds was another double shot of what the chef called Japanese Moonshine in a sauce bowl. I'm pretty it sure it was vodka. I had no intention of drinking more than one mixed drink with my meal, but my wife ended up having to drive afterward. I guess I was part of the entertainment at the table today. If you go as a couple or small group, you usually end up in a "forced social setting" because they seat 5-8 people around each hibachi grill. Sometimes, it becomes a fun opportunity to meet nice new people. Sometimes it's just awkward. I tend to be open and easy to interact with others I'm meeting for the first time, but some people struggle with it. If you can handle sitting so close and having limited privacy from strangers seated around the grill, you should be fine. In addition to being trained in how to prepare the meals in front of an audience, most of the chefs are internationals with a flare for entertainment. Some canned humor often is part of the preparation (egg roll, butterfly, onion volcano, juggling eggs with a steel spatula before catching them on the edge to draw shapes on the grill with the yolk streaming out like paint, etc), and some chefs are more relaxed and interactive than others. We go for the food, so everything else is bonus in the experience for us. Fire - lots of fire! Young kids can get freaked out by the sudden burst of light, heat, and noise from the fire on the grill, but it's just a part of the show that delights others. There were bawlers from 6 months to about 6 years old at every grill today (around 4 PM). If that bothers you, try dining out here later, but don't be surprised if some couple brings their kid(s) along. It is a family restaurant. Although I've had better appetizers at one chain or better drinks at another chain, I generally believe all Japanese steakhouses are pretty much the same. Some may consider that a bad thing. I like knowing I'm going to get a great meal and have some entertainment on the side - and bring home lunch to reheat for the...
Read moreThe pictures people posted on Google maps are either old or just don’t show enough detail. But they are better than this restaurant looks in person. I was highly disappointed with the atmosphere in comparison to several other hibachi restaurants I have visited.
Family and friends, 8 of us, visited here Saturday, 7/6/2024 from out of town (Columbus, and Cleveland, OH). The wether was HOT outside!
They seated us at a double hibachi grill table but not enough servers to have two grills going. However, that was ok with us because it was SO HOT in back area around our table and that was BEFORE the chef started cooking.
The restaurant needs HVAC replacement or repairs. I walked to the front of the restaurant and you could feel the cool air up front but not in the back. I finally asked the manager if he would please adjust the air. He did and it cooled down a little.
The restaurant needs major decor as well as tables and chairs updating.
The menu showed pictures of drinks which included what looked like a mojito. I asked the waitress for a mojito and she said they don’t make those. I showed her the picture and she said, “I don’t know what those drinks are on the menu or why they are there but we don’t offer those. We only offer…” and she pointed to the list of drinks. I passed and just went with water.
The menus are old and junkie looking.
The soup they serve at the beginning was terribly bland and not tasty at all. Everyone at our table agreed. It tasted like water with onion crisps dropped in with a few green onions.
The yum-yum sauce here was bland also. I was disappointed with those things.
The rest of my food, chicken hibachi with rice, was delicious.
I did notice the chef didn’t cook enough for everyone to have the same portions. By the time he got to the last 3 people of our group of 8, those 3 got way less portions.
Overall I would rate our visit mediocre, definitely not exceptional. I would not...
