Purely Sweet Bakery — Restaurant in Beavercreek

My husband and I hired Purely Sweet Bakery last month to create our wedding cake (a cutting cake and sheet cake) and we were very happy with the results! It was absolutely delicious and beautiful! I'm a vegetarian and wanted to be sure that the cake did not have any animal ingredients in it like gelatin or bone char. Purely Sweet Bakery is one of the few places in the Dayton area that specifically offers vegan and gluten-free options. Our cake was for a small wedding with 48 servings and we were really impressed with the size, quality, and value. It's hard to tell from the photos but the portion sizes were quite tall and generous! We still have several boxes of leftover cake we've frozen to enjoy again in future months. So many people were asking me at our reception where we got the cake because it was so delicious. It was also really easy to work with Dawn at the bakery. Very clear, friendly, and prompt communication throughout the process and they even delivered the cake for us, which was one less thing to worry about. Purely Sweet Bakery is my go-to for all desserts, sweets, baked goods and tasty treats! Dawn is a MAGICIAN in the kitchen and has perfected how to make dairy free, gluten free desserts taste as good or BETTER than the original. I am so grateful I found her food truck a few years ago and have been a loyal costumer as her company grew! It was a no-brainer for my husband and I to choose Purely Sweet Bakery as our baker for our wedding! The tasting was one of our favorite experiences during our wedding planning process. We decided to go with three different flavors of donuts, mini cinnamon rolls and a pumpkin and carrot cake wedding cake. WOW. Dawn and her team went above and beyond! Our guests were so impressed with the desserts and most of them being allergy free - couldn’t even tell a difference!! Dawn was so communicative, professional and caring while we were working through the many COVID road bumps and new guidelines. Her delivery, presentation and quality was unmatched. I really really wanted to like this place. I have celiacs and it's hard to find good baked goods, so I was excited when a relative bought me cupcakes from here. They were supposed to be vanilla cupcakes but somehow tasted more like ginger and pumpkin? It was good flavor, so I ignored that. But the big problem was they were SO dense. I am telling you there is nothing light and fluffy about these cupcakes. They weigh like 5 times more than a normal cupcake. And it would be one thing if its impossible to make a light fluffy cupcake that's gluten free but I've had other bakeries that do, like chubby bunny in hamilton, which is just a little far for me to travel routinely. In the end I couldn't eat them and they got thrown out. The texture was just really offputting. I'm not saying it to be mean I just always am honest in reviews this was super disappointing and I think they need to take a step back and review what flour they are using...
