I usually know what to expect when I come here, long wait times, but good food. So I wasn't surprised when my friend and I had a wait time of 25 minutes today. After about 20 minutes of waiting, there was a total of 8 tables open, and probably 30 people waiting to be seated and THEY WERE NOT SEATING PEOPLE! Finally a woman came out who looked like the manager, and told her staff to start calling names to seat them. When she was helping her employee at the front sit people, I saw her point to the waiting list and in a very demeaning way talk about "going back to the basics". Our 25 minute wait time was more like 40. After we were seated, the woman next to us wanted a high chair for her toddler. When her husband got up to get one, their waitress told them it was against fire code and that they could not have a high chair. The mother explained this is why they said they had a toddler so they could be seated where a high chair could be placed. The manager then got involved and again repeated they could not have the high chair due to fire code, and very frantically said "YOU COULD BURN TO DEATH!" and proceeded to remove the high chair and walk away. This was said loud enough for my friend and I to hear it two tables away. Another couple close to us had been waiting a long time to get their check, and had to ask twice to get someone to help them. The manager helped them, then very quickly went to the kitchen and angrily yelled "who has table 66!?" loud enough for the whole dining area we were seated in to hear. It was really uncomfortable the way the manager was handling the situations this morning. This was by far the worst experience I have had here. The food was great as usual, but the atmosphere was uncomfortable because of how the manager was treating her staff and how...
Read more30 + years in food and hospitality. There are a few basic rules this place failed to meet. Staffing - only one waitress working for breakfast hours and handling door dash.
There are 3 priorities as a waitress. 1.) HOT Food is always first 2.)Drinks should be offered as soon as the customer is seated, and drinks on the table in the first 5 minutes ( Milkshakes do not take priority ) ) Refilling drinks and checking in the first couple minutes of the table eating if there is anything else.
Below are not priorities, but it boosts customer service and makes customers feel special and be more understanding.
Communication as you are passing the table or when an item may take a minute (ex. "The milkshake will take me a minute to make, but I'll be right back with the rest of your drinks." )
Waters on the table (this also helps with rule 2. Everyone likes a full cup!
When the manager asks you for help after you have seating 3 tables and drinks still haven't gone out, say yes. Have her help get drinks out! She's an employee of a restaurant as well, and she can help the number one priority customers.
House rule, restaurant 101: Any employee that walks by a table empty, it's your responsibility to make sure it has something on it.....the manager is not exempt from this rule.
Food was usual, and the atmosphere was the normal big franchise (denny , IHOP) feel. There's definitely room for improvement.
To the "owner" who replies.....Google review does not let you select text in the response you most likely will make, to copy and paste in a web browser to take your survey. Asking reviewers to copy and paste your link is a waste of time, it...
Read moreThe worst IHOP I've ever ate in. By far. First impression, came in at 7 a.m. and no one up front. Had to get someone to get seated. Floor was very slippery at the entrance all the way to the restroom. Tried to bring it to the attention of our waitress (Mexican older female with a mole on her nose) who saw me slipping around and acted like I didn't know what I was talking about. For anyone that worked in the galley or kitchen, you can tell that the same Mop and mop bucket that is used in the kitched was used in the dining area. Then, our food was served and I got my usual Country Fried Steak and got my eggs fried instead of over easy like I ordered initially. Eggs were underneath Country Fried steak and looks like was just put together with no care. Slogan board had Blueberries on background and said something like Fresh from our farms to your plate or something of that sort. I bring this up because my Mother's blueberry pancakes had blueberries right out of the can and had about 4 pieces that were sprinkled around the plate to make it look like that there were fresh berries. What's pathethic my Mom tried to mention it to the the same waitress and was just ignored and kept saying they were fresh. Is this what IHOP has become? I would not recommend this place to anyone. Trying to avoid the racial card but definitely, me being in the same category played a role. If I wasn't in a hurry would've definitely looked for...
