This is a favorite haunt of our friends, so we decided to give it a shot. And it was totally worth it. The portion sizes here in general, are humongous! From the sushi, sashimi, rolls to the ice cream we got more for our money's worth than expected. Ordered the Sushi combo C, Sashimi combo regular, albacore delight, yakitori, japanese sausage, bacon and asparagus, su mai, crunchy roll, strawberry mochi and lychee ice cream. The atmosphere was cool and calm. The servers were excellent. The Sushi and Sashimi combos were great, both in variety and taste, particularly salmon, tuna, red snapper and tamago. The albacore delight was indeed a delight with its dot of spicy sauce on top, balancing the sour from the soy sauce and the albacore. The yakitori was average. The japanese sausage and the bacon and asparagus were savory, salty, yet refreshing. The su mai was fried, crunchy, and filling, with the accompanying salad providing some freshness to the overall dish. The crunchy roll, similar to the albacore delight, was huge and filling. Not only did it live up to its name but it was quite delicious as well. The strawberry mochi unfortunately didn't reach my tongue. There were 4 pieces and both the hominids, accompanying me in this venture, devoured it like they had never seen mochi before. Spoiler Alert: They had! (and that's probably why they were gone) As much as i would like to believe that the strawberry mochi with whipped cream on top was sour, I don't think that was the case. Lastly, coming to the Lychee ice cream, it was the most delicious Lychee ice cream i had in a long while and hence the 5 stars. Yes i maybe biased since i am somewhat of a Lychee fanatic, but a great dessert after a great meal deserves a 5...
Read moreI love this place. I have been eating here for a long while now. And everytime the food is fresh. Very well prepared and amazingly presented the portions are perfect and priced accordingly. The staff is always fast, friendly, and offer great suggestions. My go to favorite is the Ninja Vs Samurai. Tina vs salmon. So good. The sesame seeds bring out so much more flavor than I would ever expect. On my most recent visit I tried a bowl of the Mushroom Soup. The flavor is bold yet smooth. Not overpowering. And the amount and variety of mushrooms was spectacular. They don't offer it as a menu option on door dash or grub hub. And I really wish they would. The TnT roll, while it leads you to believe it's gonna burn your mouth and soul. Is rather subtle in the heat of things. The flavor isn't lost by the hot spicy stuff. Thier jalapeño poppers..are the most amazing way I think I have ever eaten a jalapeño. I have a bit of a sensitive stomach for them. But these leave me very satisfied and pleased. I highly recommend trying them. The sashimi and nigiri.Nigeria.. top notch..healthy cuts of fish..not to much rice.. and the ginger is legit. If you like sushi. This Japanese dining experience will leave you in disbelief that what you used to consider as good. This place is the best!.. Go, get you some. Then try and...
Read moreI always like the food and those of you who follow me know how much I love sushi
Here you can find a wide array of eastern foods, mostly Japanese.
To the best of my recollection, NO place here in Beaverton NOR Portland has a menu of this type of so extensive!
Sushi, sashimi, Bento, teriyaki, cherashi, ....chicken, beef, fish and other sea life...a full bar with incredible mixed drinks, desserts etc.
These can be found elsewhere but not as good nor as many types of each.
I would have given Shorten ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ EXCEPT for being rather barn like inside, uncomfortable seating and a poor decision by a manager.
The person I brought with me to experience the cuisine is new to Japanese food and wanted to have a dessert that came in 5 flavors. I asked our waiter if we could have a small sample of 2 flavors. . . offering to pay for the samples. I noticed his nervousness as he said he had to ask the manager. I watched him do so and her immediate head shake 'no'. Of course that IS her right and responsibility; however, most classy eateries will always put the customer...
