Normally they never mess up our order, they're friendly && their service is quick. However, the closing shift royally messed up my order today/night. First, they said they didn't have any okra, so I had to settle for different sides for my grilled chicken tray. I don't know how many nuggets are supposed to come as a side, but they gave 3 ((I figured there would at least be 4-5)) && they tasted amazing. The other side unfortunately, a bacon wrap, was disgusting. The bacon was so burnt, && there was no sauce of any sort until the last bite. No exaggeration, it was literally the last bite, the very end of the wrap with no bacon, before I got a taste of ranch. The chicken sandwich itself tasted wonderful, actually better than the last couple times I've had it ((it tasted overcooked, burnt && dry before)). Well, my boyfriend ordered a double burger tray with everything, except jalapenos.. they even asked to confirm that he wanted cheese && bacon on it, which he did.. && chicken quesadillas as both of his sides. Well, they didn't put a crumb of bacon on his burger..no onion.. no pickles.. no condiments Iike ketchup, mustard, mayo.. literally the only things on the burger was lettuce, tomato && cheese.. && They didn't give him ANY sides whatsoever!! We didn't realize till we were home, && they were already closed by that time. I'm extremely disappointed, but hopefully they do better next time. This is currently my favorite fast food place, so I really hope they don't start slacking && messing up like McDonald's &&/or Wendy's.
Edit 4-29-23: I took away a star because tonight makes the 3rd or 4th time that they put nasty bell peppers in the walking taco instead of jalapenos. They also forgot to add the lettuce, tomatoes && mayo to the chicken sandwich, however, they did remember to add...
Read moreI have to eat healthy for the rest of my now short life after this experience. "Cookout is really good" they said. "You'll like it" they said. Upon entering, the place was around the temperature of a walk-in cooler in a convenient store. It was rather warm outside so at first this was okay. Then as I noticed my feet gently sticking to the tile with every step I took I began to be aware of how everything I touched (counter, table, ketchup packets etc) was sticky with old grease. The guy that took our order seemed to be so happy to be there (this is sarcasm), AND he spoke his own language (some loose spin on English). He was actually rather rude and if I weren't hungry and tired, or maybe was watching this interaction on YouTube I might have laughed. But no. He literally had to have another employee come to the counter to answer our question of "what sides can you get?" So, if you're looking to spend about 20 bucks on food for two that has more old grease in it than a 1986 Oldsmobile, mealy soggy fries and an atmosphere similar to Buffalo Bob's basement. This is your stop. Enjoy. WOULD...
Read moreWe were in the Beckley area and decided to try Cook Out. It was a late lunch, around 2:00. They didn’t appear to be busy, but as we made our way to the counter, they came from everywhere and we ended up having 5 people in front of us. The second line was never opened. It took 10 minutes for us to get to the point where we could order. Most of this was on the people placing orders that would step up and not be ready to order. After placing our order, it was another 10 minutes to get our food. Cook Out is primarily a drive thru, and that was very evident as I saw cars getting service before we got our lunch. Our number was called and after 20 minutes we sat down to eat some really good food. It was hot and fresh. Both sandwiches were made to order and made correctly. The onion rings were just as good as the cole slaw. Here are my thoughts on Cook Out. Drive thru for faster service. You can dine inside, just be patient. The food will be hot and fresh. Hey, maybe next time, open up that other line....
