We found this Thai restaurant on Google with a solid 4.7 rating and drove nearly 15 miles just to try it. Maybe our expectations were too high, but overall, it didn’t quite live up to the hype.
We arrived around 8:30 PM — close to closing time at 9:30 — and were grateful that the staff still welcomed us in. Out of respect for their closing hours, we ordered quickly and tried to eat fast, not wanting to stay too long.
The food? To be honest, it was just okay. The pad Thai and fried rice were decent, but the grilled chicken wings, which they claimed were a specialty, felt pretty average. The fish dish also didn’t stand out. Of course, taste is subjective, so I won’t say too much — it just didn’t impress us.
We were asked to pay the bill early, which we understood — they were getting ready to close. We even packed our mango sticky rice without opening it, thinking we’d enjoy it back at the hotel.
But that’s where the real disappointment hit. In a country where portion sizes tend to be generous, the mango sticky rice was literally smaller than my fist — both the mango and the rice combined. It honestly felt like a joke, especially for the price.
I don’t usually leave reviews, and certainly not bad ones, but this one just felt… underwhelming. It wasn’t a terrible experience, but it definitely didn’t live up to the 4.7 stars — not in taste,...
Read moreI don’t know why this restaurant had such good reviews. The food is very mediocre and is EXTREMELY OILY!! We got Tum yum seafood, lo mein, pad Thai, peanut chicken, and pad see ew. The pad see ew had carrots which was unusual. The lo mein noodles were not your typical noodles and honestly it looked pretty unappetizing. Out of all the dishes the only one that was pretty good as the pad thai. It’s also very expensive for what you get. The portions are very small. The Thai coffee was an overly expensive and glorified Starbucks Frappuccino in the bottle. It tasted exact like that but just a lot sweeter.
I will say that the inside of the restaurant is very modern and pretty but the booths are cramped and if you were to turn around you would be in the person behind you personal space. It can also get very loud. Also, we weren’t greeted when we walked in so we sat down and it took about 5 minutes before someone came to our table. The waiter kept staring at my boyfriend too which was weird.
Unfortunately, my family will not be returning. We weren’t satisfied with the food despite the raving reviews. If you want good Thai food go to Jan Thai right up the street. They have the...
Read moreWe had carry-out a few weeks ago and loved it. We had ordered yellow curry and massamun chicken, both we highly recommend. Our next visit was inside. Except for their yummy curry puffs, we decided to order new items. The pork egg rolls were not a favorite, so next visit we will get the veggie selection. Our entrees were peanut chicken and a beef plate called Crying Tiger. The pecan chicken was very good, but since the sauce is so dense we will ask for it on the side or get less sauce. The dense sauce is delicious but filling. It came with a large ball of rice, which was cooked perfectly. However, the entree heated up well the next day and tasted fresh. It will definitely be on our reorder list. The beef plate came with a creative presentation of lettuce to create a wrap with the beef pieces. The beef had some tough spots which made it too chewy. The marinade was tasty, but we will probably not select it again. Also, our booth seemed tight, but we did not ask to move. Next time we will sit at a table. Koracha Thai is now in our recomme dation list, and we would like to...
