Upon arriving, we were not greeted. Typically I understand that when it's rather busy and there's 1 person working the front, which there was. However, as the crowd simmered down, still no greeting. I looked over at my son and waa thinking that I'll give them one more opportunity to acknowledge us. The guy "finally" said, "Give me a moment, I'll be right with ya." Right before our order was taken we peeped the menu, and noticed a sign on top of menu that stated how peices of food had slightly increased since covid. Ok, nor sure why actual prices weren't changed and listed at this point. Covid began in 2020. Anyways, we ordered . My son ordered the thanksgiving meal, me: turkey leg and collared greens. His lunch price said 13.89. Mine was priced at about 18.95. We he rang the total on register showed $49. I knew the math wasn't matching not in the least bit. I asked him (no receipt given at time) , what were the actual prices? He stated(whispering with a half smile), oh, the thanksgiving meal is actually $25. Dude, I said that's nearly doubled that's no slight increase. His response,"I been trying to tell him to change prices." Naw yall are playing games is what it is. What kept him from telling me that prices while I was ordering. I Simply told him that's very misleading to have prices way off like that and really a lie. He talking about he knows again whispering with a half smile. I then said, "black ppl." He said, yep. I only stayed because my son picked the place. Otherwise, I would've walked out before receiving food and paying. We took the food to go because it was very warm and not a lot of space for the amount of ppl there. My son enjoyed his food. My turkey leg was actually tender pretty good(minus the bbq suace). Never had anyone douse my chicken leg in sauce without asking if that's what I wanted. Then the collard greens were very sweet. Ugggh. It's almost like theu knew it was too salty but tried to balance it with sugar. They should've thrown all that out and started over 🥴🤮. Read moreLet me start off by saying that my family and I have been coming here often since the place opened. I also have sent everyone I know here because the food has been so good. The service is however greatly inconsistent and today was by far the worst. Starting off by saying there were only 2 people working in a busy kitchen that needs at least 3-4 to keep up with demand. The guy running the register was not greeting anyone and moved around at a very slow pace even when seeing that there were many people in line for a very long time. I called on the phone to place an order beforehand. The guy literally takes my entire order which was large and for 5 people. I show up 30 minutes later and the order hasn’t even been put in the system or on a paper or started. They wanted me to repeat my entire order. Then the other guy says “I don’t start nothin until you get here because it hasn’t been paid for.” So why did you waste my time and energy even ordering on the phone? What’s the convenience of order ahead if I still have to wait a long period of time when I get here? I would have GLADLY paid ahead had i been asked to or informed. Who wants to waste their time calling and then having to repeat themselves a half hour later almost and still sit for probably what would have been another 30 minutes for all the food to come out? 0 customer service skills at all for either of the 2 that were working. I was not the only one who had issues with their order being completely wrong in the time I was in there. I have never seen it like this. Rosako is always so kind and helpful and people I have dealt with in the past here have been too at times, but whoever these guys are are not able to manage both food prep and taking orders on their own. Very disappointed. Will be back. As always, but today you lost a large order from me and the others I was ordering for based on solely the lack of care about your customer and the inconvenience/ lie that my order was taken and starting to be prepared. Read moreI'm very disappointed with the food here... I came in at or around 1:20pm Sunday December 3rd of 2023. I ordered 2 plates with the 2 meat option... I ordered turkey tips, chicken tips, greens, Mac & cheese, yams, corn bread, and banana pudding.... to start I asked the kind white lady to put the sauce on the side... I asked her to do that because a lot of bar b que places will put sauce on stale meat to mask the flavor... I got all the way home and saw they had poured the sauce on the meat anyway... The meat was super salty... With some type of residual water on the bottom as if they were boiled. If the meat is smoked it should be moist not watery! Next the greens were horrible... Just could not understand the flavor... It's almost like they seasoned them with a bar b que rub or bar b que sauce! Next was the mac & cheese... It seemed to have had a roux cheese poured in it but very sparingly... It was super dry. Tasted like plain noodles with dry white gravy . The corn bread was extremely too sweet! The yams were good but I lost my motivation to finish them because of everything else being so horrible! I also bought 2 quarts of banana pudding. I have not tasted it yet. Hoping it will be good on tomorrow... I spent $70 .... I basically threw the food in the garbage with the exception of the banana pudding. Me and my wife are literally eating popcorn to replace the food! I usually go to Hutchins bar b que in trophy club Texas... Their food can be a little expensive but I actually got more food there than here... And there food is always good and consistent! I'm learning not to go off of supporting black businesses only... Because I would be throwing food and money away if I followed that train of thought! Listen eat where the food is good! There are a lot of good black restaurants as well as bad ones...
