Not impressed. First time here and I was in the area needing something for breakfast to take back home with me. Asked for a cream filled donut and while I appreciate that it was filled when I ordered it; all it was, was cut in half and the cream placed in the middle. Donut was pretty bland and looked like a hamburger bun with glaze on it. Was looking for sausage and cheese kolaches, didn't see any in the case and the menu only said regular, jalapeno and boudin. (Who doesn't have sausage and cheese in Texas?) Opted for the boudin, however I didn't realize their cost until I was paying. $6.75 each?!? I can get boudin at Shipley's for just under $3 and they're the same size. While these have more boudin than Shipley's, I wasn't expecting them to be seafood boudin. I've had a lot of boudin kolaches from a lot of shops around Texas and they've always been sausage. Not a pleasant flavor for breakfast when you're having coffee or orange juice. $30 for 4 kolaches and a donut is way too much. We could have had a nice sit down breakfast at a restaurant for that or gone to Shipley's for half the cost....
Read moreThe donut holes taste like you took a trip to the State Fair and had a bite. The Christmas music in the background just add that classic I’m from the neighborhood, local feel. Good mornings from the owner to those walking in then the exchange of good mornings between the customers greeting one another. This is definitely a Bellaire, Texas gem.
I’ll tell you about the Boudin Kolache in just a bit.
Holy smokes! Am I in Bellaire, Texas or the Golden Triangle just a hop, skip and jump away from Louisiana?! Seriously this supposedly mild boudin kolache is the spice I needed to wake up this morning!
I came alone but I did not sit alone. When this sweet little one walked in with her mother she gave me this look like “aren’t you going to ask me to sit down?” We immediately became friends and I tell you. It was a joy to visit this place. Thank you Bri for your service today! I will definitely be back and will definitely send people your way!
P.S. TRY THE MAPLE DONUT TO! Do you even love yourself if you...
Read moreMy experience for the first time was not very pleasant. One of the workers in there should really be taught customer service and learn to crack a smile every now and then. Lady who was also working (seem to be owner) was very kind. The price that I paid seemed to be a bit overpriced for what I purchased as well. Mind you I had 2 missing items I noticed when I got home that I CLEARLY told the rude worker that I wanted and did not receive but I went a head and let it go. I tried to give it another chance and sent someone and their experience wasn’t great either and also said that the person in front of him was complaining about prices and told me customer service was TERRIBLE. I will not be returning. Also the kolaches is pretty much all bread and a TINY sausage....
