Valley Deli & Subs — Restaurant in Belleville

I am lazy, I never write reviews. That being said, this experience was so bad that I am actually writing a review. I live on a very short, less than 50 yards long, dead end street. The delivery person called me at 11:32 to tell me she was on the street, so I gave her additional directions, "Do you see the Coptic Church at the end of the street?" "Yes" "Okay great, I am the second building on the left, has the big 7 on the outside. The building closest to the church." (Same directions given to every delivery person for the last 2 years as google maps always points to the buildng directly across from mine) Two minutes later I get a call from a guy telling me that the toast was left behind and he is bringing it. Then I get another call from the delivery person and she can't find the building, no idea how that is happening but fine, I give her even more directions explaining that my building is closest to the church, on the left hand side, big #7 on it, give her the name of the apartments (Sign in front of the building), she says okay and I assume she will be here in a few seconds. The guy shows up with the forgotten toast, I explain the difficulties of the driver and he says she is new but he will go help her get here. She calls again, says she is pushing the buzzer to be let in and I explain that no, she isn't or I would hear it and so would she as I am right beside the door panel in my apartment. She says "Well I am at building #1." Yes, building #1, despite my repeated explanations of building #7, 7 not 1. It took her 15 minutes to navigate a

Excellent food at great prices. My favorites are the chicken parm sub (the chicken is crisp and chopped into big pieces), the warm pastrami sandwich, the meatballs, the potato salad, the tuna sub, the Valley special sub, the italian sub, the curly fries.... Ok, I have to catch my breath. So far I have not had a bad experience with the food or the delivery. Oh, the mozzarella sticks too!! Anyway, I order on Grubhub all the time, so I've never actually been to the deli or spoken on the phone and have only met the delivery girl, who is very nice and always on time or even early. Great selection on the menu for breakfast and lunch. The burger! That was outstanding. It was the double burger. I asked for rare, and you know what I got? Not well done. Not medium. I got RARE. Very few places can do a burger the way I like it. Steve's nailed it. Where was I? Oh, it's a great place with great prices and great food! Can you ask for more? I know I can't. HOME FRIES! I have to be honest. I have no idea how this place has an almost 5-star review. Is it because there are such poor options for ordering lunch in New Jersey that this is among the best? Don't get me wrong. The food is okay. But that is all. Just okay. I would say sandwiches are a better bet than salad, since I just ordered a salad (grilled chicken spinach salad) and it is about 60% chicken and bacon, 30% tomatoes, and 10% greens. In my book, this is not a salad. I guess if what you really want to eat is chicken and bacon, then it's a good deal? I have ordered sandwiches before and thought those were pretty good.
