Iāll be honest, I was hesitant to try this place from the negative reviews I was reading on both Google and yelp but Iām so glad I didnāt let those deter me. My partner had come to try this place a few months ago and spoke highly of it. I trust his taste so I reluctantly agreed to try. Boy was I proven wrong!
Firstly, we were given the warmest greeting from Kevin, our server. He remembered my partner from monthsss ago and even recalled him by name, even though my partner had only eaten here once! Next the food, everything came out HOT and soooo tasty! We got the house special chow fun, crispy eggplant with spicy garlic, wonton in spicy vinaigrette, and fish congee. Omygoodness I probably am going to sound like Iām exaggerating but the house special chow fun is probably the best chow fun Iāve tasted from Chinese restaurants in both LA and Seattle combined. The noodles were extra wide and the flavor was savory. I love that it came with char siu, chicken, shrimp, and fish balls! Second favorite was the crispy eggplant with spicy garlic! Rarely do I see crispy eggplant dishes at Chinese restaurants, this was truly a delight to munch on. We were frequently checked on by the other servers, a sweet lady and another young man but I unfortunately didnāt get their names, they were so nice! It is from my dining experience here that Iām going to make sure not to reject a place just from...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been in Bellevue for almost ten years now, and their house special seafood congee used to be my absolute favorite, but itās sad that it isnāt the same anymore. $13.99 for a container of burnt (yes it tasted very burnt today) watery congee with fish balls and squid is just crazy. Yes itās been around $10.99 years ago and the price hasnāt gone up as much, but Iām ok paying 10/10 price for 10/10 food. I donāt care if the better ingredients (it used to feature scallops) means a higher food cost hence higher price, Iām willing to pay the price for legitimate product, but Iām not willing to pay a 6/10 price while receiving 3/10 food. I have been disappointed quite a few times in the past few years, but every time I crave for the old goodness and had hopes for what ifs. This might be the last time I do this, I have been patient waiting for things to come out of COVID impact, but Iām afraid itāll never be the old way ever again.
Plus, there was one staff coughing VIOLENTLY, like sheās coughing her lungs out, without any self-consciousness whatsoever. I worked in the industry so I understand sometimes you donāt have a choice to stay home when youāre not feeling well, but at least wear a mask, or use your elbow to cover, or try to close your mouth. Coughing with your mouth wide open and no attempt try to contain it is utterly gross, especially in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDim Sum Factory is a hidden gem in the greater Seattle area! Upon moving here from Queens, NY, where awesome dim sum and Cantonese is available aplenty, we avoided this place (dim sum factory) the first few years, because the reviews were so bad. Finally, we just figured, "whatever, let's try it." Turns out it's one of the best dim sum in the area!
First, let me highlight what really sets it apart from almost any other dim sum place we've been to (anywhere): the SIZE. The portions are big and the individual pieces are big.
Second, most of their items are homemade, especially their rice wraps/rolls. Their rice roll is a bit thicker, along with the skins on some of their dumplings, but I like that because they also stuff them very full, so the thicker skin holds the filling nicely. Their steamed shrimp and chive is so fulfilling. As is the standard, simple shrimp rice roll.
Third, they also have a good selection of cooked dishes, which aren't overly oily. They cook their pea shoots exactly how I like them.
Also, we've now gone a few times and there'snit once been a wait, the staff is super helpful, and the food comes out quickly. We've even started ordering extra to take home. I ordered two orders of their buns frozen to take home. At $2.50/ea, that's cheaper than even T&T next door (and better).
We've...
