Funtastic Playtorium — Local services in Bellevue

As a parent, this was a fun place to take my kiddos and hang out with a mom friend and her kid. It was a little dusty/dirty, but I noticed a few workers actively cleaning, which is essential to do while kids are playing, as they are messy! The rules are as enforced as I was hoping, but I think this is more on the parents than the staff. The rules clearly state to supervise you children. It’s not a free for all. I noticed many parents hardly paying attention, meanwhile me and couple others desperately trying to see their kids on the top part, which is harder to supervise. Maybe little security cams would help at least for the top portion. I wouldn’t be able to see them usually unless I took a picture or they came back down. The toddler area was clean and my littles used it a bit when smaller kids weren’t, as they are 2. It was great for my low muscle toned girl who needed a break from the big toys sometimes. And fun enough for her twin brother to join her there. Why there was a little tv in that area, I’m not sure, but seemed odd for a toddler area, but I got my kid away from it after a few minutes cuz we came to move! Bathroom is fairly clean, though it would be nice to have a smaller toilet since it is for kids and my kid is potty training.

But it didn’t feel like the workers wanted to be there very much. I assume typical high schoolers, but I couldn’t tell if there was a manager also present. Somebody needed to be in charge. My 7 year old saw this on Blippi and has begged to go. We went on a very low traffic day (midweek, during the school day) and there were only a few kids there with us, mostly babies, which made sense. My daughter enjoyed it a lot! The woman working there when we got there seemed disinterested (very much in line with the other reviews I've seen) but she was kind to the kids who approached her, and mine when she asked a question. I liked the wristband ID system, though when we left no one was at the door to check us out and the gate wasn't secure, but fortunately I left with the child I arrived with.

The play structure requires a step in on all sides, so even on the base level where the ball guns are, and even to get into the zone with the octopus, kids need to be mobile enough to step over them. I feel that it'd probably be fairly easy to modify it to allow kids in wheelchairs to enjoy too.

My biggest problem with this place is the lack of comfortable seating. My child is old enough to not need vigilant supervision in places like this, so I'd planned to kill two hours here relaxing while my daughter burned energy, but the options are uncomfortable bar seats, uncomfortable foam blocks on the floor, or the best option, uncomfortable foam columns. I just saw a previous review saying it is for kids 5 and older. That is not true, I have been taking my son Keanu here since he was 2. They have a toddler section but not only that, they can learn to climb and develop motorskills and physical coordination at that age by allowing them to struggle a little bit. But here is the caveat, this is only doable when it is not busy. If it is too busy, you should crawl with you toddler and accompany them closely so they don’t get trampled. And if there are a lot of kids on the trampoline, don’t bother with a child under three, the other kids will bounce them around and they won’t be able to stand up.

There are bathrooms, a party room for birthdays in the back. Ball cannons, two slides one open one enclosed. There is no ball pit. The toddler section is only for 3 and under and has some developmental toys.

Warning: there are spinning carousel tea cup things that the kids can sit in and spin around. They can be dangerous if they are spinning fast and your child tries to climb out while it’s still moving. If children are using them, there should be an adult supervising them for that particular part of the play place.
