BEWARE if you come to this location to get color matched to a foundation. This post is long but worth it. I came to this location in hopes to finding a foundation the matched my complexion.

I was greeted then passed off to a makeup specialist. From the moment I walked up she seemed absolutely disinterested in wanting to help me. I want to add that I came into the store without any makeup on so I could find a good match for my actual skin tone.

The specialist who helped me had a full face of makeup on, and though there’s nothing wrong with that, I felt very judged from the moment I came up to her because I wasn’t wearing any makeup at all. I told her what I wanted and followed her while she walked a few aisles and then stopped at a display right at the front door.

As she proceeded to color match me she didn’t talk to me and then started brushing a foundation onto my face. It was really an awkward situation and being right in front of the door I felt even more awkward. Now I will say the foundation was a pretty good match, but when I asked her if this would be a similar color to other foundations, she himed and hawed and didn’t give me a straight answer, before saying well, every foundation is different with undertones” in a very sarcastic tone and though I do understand that, I was hoping to get at least a range of my skin complexion so that I could look at different foundation types.

When I asked for the price, it was definitely a much more pricier foundation, and I absolutely felt like she was just trying to push me out the door. Like she assumed I wasn’t gonna buy something and hence maybe why she started me off with a more unaffordable foundation.

I had really just wanted to go in there to get some help and I felt like I was being judged and dismissed and pushed out as fast as I could because I wasn’t wearing any make up, and I might not have looked like a typical person who enjoys wearing make up by maybe how I looked, showing me a foundation that was more on the pricey side and seeming to not want to help me after that.

Please think twice about visiting or purchasing anything from this Ulta location, especially for people of color. The staff and manager are very rude and disrespectful. The two times I visited this location, I felt discriminated against.

Upon entering the store, I assumed it would have a variety of Mac products available. I took my time browsing, and exploring. However, my experience took a negative turn when the manager approached me in a rather rude manner. I let the manager know that I was in search of a Mac foundation. She then asked me to wait in front of the store while she went to look for my shade.

At first I had no problem walking to the front of the store. However the manager walked along side me to the front of the store as if I was a child or a teenager. I proceeded to ask her why she does want me to wait in front of the store. She informed me she would be right back. I did not think anything of the situation because I do not like to assume the worse, but once she told a staff member to stand by the front of the store, I felt targeted.

The manager's demeanor and responses was disrespectful, which is concerning given her position as a manager. Her lack of professionalism not only undermined her authority but also created a negative shopping atmosphere.

After returning from her search, she informed me that the stored did not carry any darker shades of foundation and suggested I buy online instead. To be honest I would rather give zero stars! I stopped with my wife who has a serious medical condition. She loves ulta's selection and expertise. We usually shop at Woodinville and they run a fantastic store. Factoria could really learn something from them! The staff was pushy to say the least. One woman in peticular was so pushy and rude that we could not manage to speak to eachother before she would butt in and ask how we were doing. It was ridiculous! We tolerated that as much as possible while trying to finish up our selections. Then the woman comes up and says the store is closed and we need to make our selection and go. Immediately after that a very rude and ignorant security guard gets right in our faces and begins to tell us to get out of the store. Now we had no idea the store was going to close since the staff never made an announcement or told anyone that information. This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. As a higher end retailer I would think ulta would not want people representing their brand treating customers in such a way. I spent over $300.00 to be treated that way and I can tell you that will not happen again I personally will be spreading the word about this terrible experience and recommending my neighbors and friends shop elsewhere.
