I went in yesterday to get the security tag taken off of a shirt I purchased from there in October. It took me a while to return as I don't live in the area but I still had my original bag and receipt. A receipt that showed the near 500 dollars I spent in this establishment on that day in October.
When I go to the register yesterday to get this clamp removed from the shirt the Asian lady cashier was hesitant to take off my security tag that her establishment left on. She kept asking where is the item listed on the receipt. She kept saying she didn't see it. She kept handing the receipt to me. I clearly don't work there and am not an expert on their brands and names of items they carry, all I know is it was a tan colored button up so I looked for the closest thing that matched that description. And pointed to it. And this lady just kept stating out loud as if to shame me in front of all the customers behind me in line "Ugh I don't see it i don't see it" "but okay". She also asked me very accusingly why there was no sales tag on it. I told her very calmly it's bbecause I went to wear the shirt and once I had ripped off the tag and had it on my body that's when I saw the clamp on the armpit area of the shirt. She insisted on still mumbling that she didn't see the item on my receipt as she took off the clamp and insisted on continuing to embarrass me in front of all of these customers.
I have never had great experiences with Nordstrom staff members it's shameful that people pay all this money to get treated in this manner, and i realize it's possibly due to me being a black woman but I hate even having to accept that. You all ought to be aashamed and coach this lady on how to treat people and how to read receipts and know about the merchandise she works with. Disgusting on her behalf to shame me for her establishment not doing it's job in the first place by not removing my security tag and causing me to make another trip. And also disgusting on her behalf for shaming me in front of customers for not knowing her own job in regards to reading the receipt....

The store is closing so everyone is in line to check out so I walked around near the register just to wait for my husband to check out and pay, then an associate told me they’re closing so I acknowledged and said okay I’m just waiting for my husband. She nodded so I thought this was over, but then ANOTHER associate suddenly sticked her head out out of nowhere and YELLED at me “BUT YOU STILL NEED TO STAY AT THE FRONT YOU CANT STAY ON THE SALES FLOOR”, while in the meantime there were literally 5 OTHER PEOPLE (other races) just next to me browsing items as well. So I responded “there are other people too, why are you only yelling at me?” She yelled back “IM TELLING THEM TOO”.
Well, I understand store is closing but if you have the policy nobody could even STAND NEXT TO REGISTER YOU SHOULD WRITE IT OUT IN BIG SIGN AND NOT YELL AT YOUR CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE NO INTENTION OF BLOCKING YOU FROM GETTING OFF WORK. if you don’t want to work over time, then start telling people to check out early and close the register early.

Read moreI recently had a disappointing experience at Nordstrom Rack with a sales associate named Kathy, who is of Asian descent. During my visit, she was very rude and kept pressuring me to apply for a credit card, even after I declined multiple times. To make matters worse, she suddenly switched to speaking in Chinese without my permission, which made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome as an English-speaking customer.
Unfortunately, my experience with Kathy also made me realize that her attitude towards different ethnic groups was inconsistent. I would caution other Asian customers to be careful when dealing with her, as I found her behavior towards me and other non-Asian customers to be quite different.
Overall, I hope that Nordstrom Rack management will take steps to ensure that all of their employees treat customers with respect and professionalism, regardless of their ethnicity or language preferences. I also encourage them to address any potential bias or discrimination within...
