Not sure what we spent 200 dollars on this Mother’s Day Weekend…..
We wanted to love it so much. We love tea. We went in early just to see the restaurant and to ask if they had a vegetarian option and was greeted completely unprofessionally and rudely, and was told that we needed to leave and walk around for 30minutes because they weren’t ready for us. We were early, but we were not intending to sit down. We just wanted to look around and felt like we were kicked out essentially. We come in and sit down and wait 25 minutes for anyone to come over and even ask us what tea we would like or anything. We give our tea order and then it proceeds to take another 30 minutes to get the tea out. Our first course was a salad that consisted of 10 pieces of spinach with a slice of tomato and ranch dressing. There was also a biscuit that tasted like raw dough and a piece of cranberry bread which was OK. The second course was a half of a mini croissant with a teaspoon of chicken salad on it, and a tiny piece of bread with a sliver of ham and a quarter of a slice of cheese. We then got a fruit cup, which had bananas, apples, and grapes in it that were brown. The dessert was a single chocolate covered strawberry with hardly any chocolate on it and a piece of stale cornbread with powdered sugar. The girl that was our server was impersonal, rude, and not charismatic whatsoever. Multiple times we asked for things and were not given service. We were told that we could have as much tea as we wanted, considering it was 40 dollars a person. We only had one refill the entire time we were there, which was for over two hours. They were not that busy, the food was already prepared, yet we never had anyone over at our table giving us service. We also asked if we could have a vegetarian option and were rudely told no, but another table was served a grilled cheese which could easily be done for the vegetarian person in our party as well. They did not have cream for the tea and we had to ask multiple times for sugar until we asked another person and they reminded our server to come and grab it for us. There were a total of four tables, including ours there and somehow there was never anyone available to serve us. This was the biggest waste of a drive and $40 that any of us have ever experienced, and I don’t say...
Read moreHear me out. Family values not promoted here. This was not the elegant family friendly experience I was hoping for when I chose this spot for a mother daughter date with my little girl. The food, decor, and service were absolutely on point. However, in the future we will opt for other establisments that more align with family values. To be more specific, for the benefit of others with simlilar values, the café was full of gay men. The cook/owner, who was no doubt a hard worker and a great chef, was also no doubt flirting with these close aquatances, who made it known they were regulars here.
There are many other businesses in the beautiful town of Bellevue that market heavily to the LGBTQ community as well but many of us hope the township and business owners at least take note, and make informed decisions, understanding there is a large quanity of clientele with traditional beliefs who engage in values driven consumerism and are looking for uncompromising establisments to frequent with our families and friends. A tea room has the edge on such clientele celebrating traditional brides, new life, ladies birthday parties, friendships, mentorships, even gentleman treating their lady to a lovely afternoon. In my humble opinion, a good business decision would be to create an inviting atmosphere for those family friendly occasions. This review may generate more business from some but many others will be greatful for the heads up....
Read moreWhen we came we were very skeptical, but as we walked in we were pleasantly surprised. We were served immediately and, since it was my first time having tea, was given very helpful suggestions on what to order. The waitress was so polite and kind, and the owner/chef seated us personally and frequently came over to see how we were doing. There was a total of four courses and we left with multiple leftovers from each course. Tea and the first course came almost immediately, with only a slight wait in between the other courses. The place was small, but in a very cozy way, and was a cute as it was welcoming. They even offer a wide variety of fancy, and old fashioned hats for you to wear while you dine. The food was sooo amazing, examples being the mushroom soup ( I don't even like mushrooms and I loved this), and the wide variety of sandwiches served. I would like to point out that before coming to this tea room I read some bad reviews, but they were all posted when the restaurant had a different owner, and the place a taken a very positive turn since then ( the owner has only been here...
