We were honestly so disappointed. I made a reservation for my boyfriend and I to spend an early valentine’s dinner. The atmosphere was gorgeous. The table was roomier than average, the server appeared pleasant and suggested great choices for wines. Unfortunately, that was about the last time we really had any interaction with her prior to receiving our bill. We were “ordered” by our server to choose all three courses at the beginning of our dinner, no recommendations, no rhyme or reason. All of our food was brought out by additional staff, which of course is absolutely fine, however, no one checked on us, offered us another glass of wine or even refilled our water.
We were also told bread would be right out. Never came. All of my personal courses were fantastic, but my boyfriend’s pasta was off and had an atrocious plastic after taste but we couldn’t say anything because no one came to ask us if we were doing okay at any point.
When we got our dessert, we were told coffee was on its way to our table which never arrived. We weren’t offered anything else, weren’t asked if we wanted anything else, we couldn’t call anyone because no other server would look at our table. We couldn’t even complain because no one was paying attention to us. We were a truly forgotten table. To be even more insulting, an automatic 20% gratuity was added to our bill. 20%?? I have no qualms with tipping or paying an automatic gratuity as I’ve been in customer service and fine dining for 5+ years, however this was absolutely abhorrent service that did not justify a tip, let alone a 20%.
If your menu has entrees priced at $75 a portion, you need to uphold the standards of something better than a fast food self serving chain. We’ve dined at restaurants around the world, we’ve had bad experiences salvaged by an understanding staff that went out of their way to help us feel that they valued the time, effort and money we spent to come out and spend our evenings with them. But this restaurant seems to believe it’s okay to charge the guests an obscene amount of money and give them little...
Read moreWhen it came to choosing a caterer for our wedding, Revival on Lincoln was our first and last stop. We didn't even bother interviewing anyone else.
We dine at Revival regularly, but my husband and I had no idea how remarkable their event-planning services were. We were so impressed. From start to finish, the professionalism, the quality, and the attentiveness of Revival's staff was first-rate. (And let me tell you, planning a wedding over the course of 2020 was no small feat). Revival handled every twist and turn with poise and grace.
Because of the pandemic, my husband and I went from planning a 90-person reception at the restaurant to having an intimate (socially responsible and socially distanced) 25-person event at our private residence. Without flinching, Chef Sola reimagined the menu. Event coordinator extraordinaire, Cindy West, handily reconfigured the rental needs and the event set-up. Both Chef Sola and Cindy visited our home twice to ensure that every detail could be anticipated and addressed.
When the big day arrived, everything just magically fell into place. As expected, the meal was spectacular. Spec-tac-u-lar! From the hors d'oeuvres (mini autumn bruschetta, jícama and apple salad, crispy pork belly biscuits) to the main course (honey thyme roasted chicken, braised short rib, tomato pie volcanoes (yes!)) to the late-night snack (crispy parmesan-crusted potato wedges with dipping sauce), Revival received rave reviews from all of our guests. Even my notoriously discerning step-father remarked, "I could've walked off with that whole pan of short rib and eaten it myself." And he was right! I swear to you, Chef Sola and his staff had to have started braising this short rib months ago. It was just that tender and perfectly seasoned.
I make no small assertion in stating that Revival on Lincoln made our special day absolutely impossible to forget. I cannot say it enough: Thank you! Thank...
Read moreI don't often leave reviews for restaurants, but my experience at Revival in Lincoln last night has forced me to leave this review.
My girlfriend and I knew pretty quickly what we wanted to order shortly after being seated. We ordered a flatbread appetizer, and our entrees: I got the short rib, she went with the pork chop.
It took a literal hour for our appetizer to arrive. It was good, but.... an hour? We devoured it quickly and then had to wait another half an hour for our entrees.
My short rib was delicious and I have no complaints about it. The pork chop, however, was uncooked. There was a thin lay of searing to the outside but the rest of the meat was a juicy vibrant pink.
We told the waiter who was incredibly apologetic and agreed that the dish was raw.
At this point we ask for the check and want to get out of there as soon as possible. The waiter says he will send us home with a cooked pork chop and a complimentary shrimp dish. Cool, great. We pay, gather our to-go boxes and leave. We are literally 10 feet outside the restaurant when the waiter runs out to say he needs to look in our to-go box. He opens it and begins apologizing. They had given us someone else's leftovers.
I do not blame the waiter for this mess of a night, but the kitchen staff is obvious struggling.
I will never go back, and will go out of my way to tell friends to avoid...
