when i saw that there was going to be an indian restaurant in bellevue i was psyched out of my mind. indian food is my all time favorite, and i've been a frequent flyer at a popular indian restaurant on mcknight road forever. i was excited to see how indian masala house could compete with the other place, and omg...they hit it out of the park. the first time i tried their food i went with someone and we both were raving over the food. service was excellent. what stood out to me was that even though they gave us the wrong naan at first (was not an issue what so ever), they brought us out fresh bullet naan and proceeded to comp my entire meal. i was not expecting that at all as there was no problem, but it was nice of them to do! what i will say, is that when i placed a take out order via uber eats to pick up, i waited for over an hour for my food. i placed the order at a few minutes before 7, and when i went inside to pick up my order when it was scheduled to be ready according to the uber eats app, they had no idea what i was talking about. i sat inside for almost an hour and a half for my food, as did several others waiting for takeout. the staff were very apologetic about the wait, and when i eventually got my order and took it home, my food was hot and delicious. i would definitely say it was worth the wait. i do hope that eventually they will straighten things out when it comes to their take out orders. regardless, they've earned themselves a...
Read moreMy first experience here was dine-in. I had the chicken korma which had excellent flavor, albeit a small portion of meat and not much else besides sauce (though very tasty sauce). My husband got the Dal Makhani, which was just ok, not much flavor compared to the korma. The service was very friendly, but I had to chase someone down for the check even though we were the only people dining. The naan was fresh and delicious, and the seasoning on the exterior of the vegetable samosa was incredibly tasty - definitely the best thing I tried.
My second experience was with take-out, and unfortunately was pretty disappointing. I ordered the chicken biryani. The menu specifically states it includes nuts, raisins, herbs, and spice. It was sadly just a small portion of chicken with a ton of spiced rice - there were no nuts, raisins, or anything else. It was pretty bland and disappointing.
Overall it seems hit-or-miss; it's odd they omitted so many of the main ingredients of the biryani. If we go again I'll stick to the samosas and korma. I hope they improve on their consistency because I would love to have a go-to Indian...
Read moreA good North Indian eatery. It has familiar flavors and aromas of Punjabi-Kashmiri cooking, though frankly NOTHING SPECIAL—— the MAIN DRAWBACK 🫤🫤🫤 is the lack of that characteristic tandoor flavor from their “Tandoori”.
The menu is rather large. There’s however notable vegetarian and lamb/goat specialties section on the menu. But, the Tandoori section is rather limited.
It’s BYOB, which was a chance to try a CA Lodi Chardonnay that turned out a great pairing😎with the food.
😊😊😊 The vegetarian appetizer platter was superb. The surprise was the very flavorful veggie samosa and the paneer pakora.
🙂🙂🙂 The Bhindi Masala is a familiar flavor. It’s a traditional sauté of fresh cut okra, tomatoes and lovely Indian spices.
😑😑😑 😑😑 The “Tandoori” Lamb Boti Kabob was flavorful BUT DOES NOT HAVE that taste and aroma of a true tandoor-cooked meat… THIS IS MORE A LIKE A COMMON BROILED PREPARATION in a modern home oven. —— it makes me wonder, DOES THIS PLACE EVEN HAVE A TANDOOR OVEN???
The service was very good.
The eatery itself is a spacious, simple decor environment...
