My husband & I went to dinner there Saturday night. We asked Nadia, the server if they were able to accommodate gluten free & if so, what items on the menu. She said yes & rattled off several sections as well as confirming that the special of the night that my husband wanted could be made GF. Our app came out fine & was good. Then our entrees came out by another server (Tree- she was very nice). I wasn't sure about the noodles so when I saw Nadia I asked her again if the noodles were GF & she said they were egg noodles & walked away. Well I wasn't sure so I checked on my phone, they WEREN'T GF & my entree was in one of the GF sections that she pointed out! When I called her over again & said that I thought these noodles had gluten in them & could I please have it made with rice noodles, she said it wouldn't be good with those & suggested the other choice that I'd asked about & I said "okay, I'll take that then". Well after twenty minutes went by with Nadia hanging out in the kitchen, taking care of take out orders, & not serving food in the dining room, Tree brought our check. I told her that Nadia was supposed to bring me another entree. She looked surprised/confused & went to get her.
Nadia came over & I asked her where my entree was. She said "I wasn't sure if it had gluten in it so I didn't want to bring it". Now, she NEVER came & told me this so I had no idea that I wasn't getting dinner & I got to watch my husband eat his while I sat there with water. If that was how she felt, she should have TOLD ME so that I wouldn't have expected a dinner! When I asked her WHY she didn't tell me she wasn't bringing me food, she took an attitude (literally with a little bit of head shaking) & very meanly said "Do you want the other dish? It'll take 5 minutes to make it". Now my husband was completely done with his dinner & I no longer had an appetite after this serious undeserved attitude so I said "No because my husband has already finished eating..." before I could even finish, she said "fine" and walked off. NO apology for her telling me incorrect menu information! NO apology for her changing her mind & not telling me I wasn't getting any food! NO apology for not bringing out my food! NO apology for her attitude! There are a LOT of good restaurants in & around the city of Pittsburgh for people to go to so a restaurant shouldn't go OUT of their way to try to lose customers but apparently nobody has told Nadia this! So if you want HORRIBLE service, get incorrect information about the menu, MAYBE get your food if she feels like bringing it, & want to be served with an attitude, THIS is your server, & this is your restaurant! UPDATE- Now she's replied to my review (under the owner's name) & stated that she told me I should skip my dinner if I'm that allergic which she NEVER told me! She also NEVER came back to the table at all to check on us. My husband kept telling ME something was wrong & I should get her attention to see why my dinner was taking so long. I kept looking for her but as I said, she was in the kitchen & doing take out so I didn't have the chance. I saw her when she took the food away & didn't see her again until Tree brought her back after we got the check. I've been a server & know how hectic it can be so I wanted to catch her when she came into the dining room on her own & not bother her when I knew she was doing stuff. As for GF customers that eat there, they must know what's in the dishes they're ordering & know they're okay because she doesn't know what is Gf & what isn't. She's recommending egg noodles that contain wheat- that isn't a good GF recommendation! I'd be sick! Since I USED to be a server, I give extra leeway to other servers because I KNOW how hectic it can get especially on a weekend but there is absolutely NO excuse for what Nadia did, how she treated me as a customer, & what she is doing now. It's just wrong to treat someone this way! She should have apologized that night (she didn't). What's mind boggling is that not only did all of this go on but now she is lying about...
Read moreI live directly up the street from this place on Washington Ave and I have got to say that I am absolutely disappointed with their quality of food. Today, I just recently ordered their Pad Kee Mao and it looked like someone chewed up the meal and spit it right back out into the carry out tray. The noodles were overly soggy and mushed up like mashed potatoes. The salad that comes with the Lunch looks as if someone cut out a large chunk from a piece of lettuce, threw it into the tray, and then decided to splash a little sauce on top of it.
I don't normally complain about food and most times I simply ignore the mistakes but I've been living in Bellevue for 3 years now and this incident has happened more than once. A customer can only be patient so many times and then there comes a point where a enough is enough. This restaurant will never receive my services ever again. I don't know if it's the cook or the management but the quality of food is poor. Years ago the food was much better. I'm not sure what happened between then and now.
If you want a quality restaurant for Thai food, go to Niky's Thai Kitchen. I promise you, Niky's Thai Kitchen is the better choice. Their food quality is suburb compared to Thai Tamarind, especially for the price you'll pay for it.

Read moreI had ordered takeout from this place a few times. I typically would order the Tom Kha which is a savory coconut milk based soup that is absolutely fantastic. This time however I decided to dine in. The restaurant is quite cosy and welcoming. My server Zita was very attentive and accommadating. I ordered a green papaya salad and a mango salad extra spicy ( an 8 on a 5 point scale) I asked for any seafood or meat to be omitted from my order and this was an easy fix. I had been eager to finally try the sticky rice and tempura eggplant as well. When my orders came out, I was immediately surprised by the portion. Likewise, the salads were so spicy that I was sweating up a storm and I loved every bite of it. But the combination of the sticky rice and salads was a taste of Thai heaven. The tempura was perfectly fried and melted in my mouth after each bite. The place had slowed down a bit as I was the only customer dining for lunch and Zita was sure to make sure I was ok with my meal and she even suggested washing it all down with a rich mango juice. I stongly recommend Thai Tamarind for anyone who is willing to try some wholesome delectable Thai cuisine. I promise you will not be disappointed with what the chef has to offer nor with the service or ambiance. ...
