I haven't tried too many Greek restaurants in Pittsburgh, and I don't eat Greek often, but Evia had high ratings. And, I unfortunately missed Greek Festival this year! It's a small shop 30 minutes away from my house. I decided to give them a try. Order the Keftethes (Greek meatballs), baklava cheesecake, Melomakarona (honey and walnut cookies), Galaktoboureko, and saganaki with pita.
Wow, this food was very good. The meatballs were flavorful and huge! Their entree portions are absolutely enormous and it was just $12! Such a great deal. Their tzatziki dip pairs excellently with these meatballs. I could have bought a bottle of that sauce, or ordered an entire appetizer of tzatziki with pita. It's that good. Their rice is fluffy and buttery. Very good texture for rice (but no mix ins).
The saganaki was an interesting appetizer. I bet it's a lot better if you dine in (I picked up my order) because it's called 'flaming cheese' meaning it should be hot. Still, I microwaved it and this cheese is for sure high quality (imported Kefalograviera cheese). It's somewhat like a combination of mozzarella with feta, but hardened. There is pita served with it, and this pita is very good. Way better than store bought. I love that it soaked up some of the cheese oils.
Their desserts are also very high quality and clearly homemade. My favorite was surprisingly their Melomakarona, honey and walnut cookies. The price is excellent and the flavors are too. Buttery, sweet, and just incredible. For just $3, why not try them? Just add them to your order, and you'll enjoy these lovely cookies which are typically eaten at Christmas time.
The 2 other desserts I tried were good, but not as good as the cookies. The galaktoboureko was tasty but I wish there was more custard. The honey topping was great though, and there was quite a bit of cinnamon. The Baklava cheesecake was creamy and unique. The crust was made of walnuts. I enjoyed it.
All in all, I highly recommend Evia Greek restaurant. I believe they are owned by the same family which owns Salonika Imports (which I've also been interested in trying). Their food is delicious, unique, authentic, and cheap for the portions! Will come back for spanakopita, pastitso,...

Eat-in or takeaway, it’s a terrific place for classic Greek delights, including the Yeeros (called Gyro or Doner elsewhere) and traditional Souvlakis.
😎The short and sweet menu brings back fond memories of many visits to Athens, Thessaloniki and the islands.
Unlike many Americanized “greek” eateries, the place has the real Tzatziki and Greek sauces/vinaigrettes as well authentic Greek cheeses.
RECOMMENDATIONS: 🤩Pork Yeero: Classic yeero only a Greek can make, tender juicy pork carved from a pit.
🤩Lamb & beef yeero: the American gyro or the European/Canadian Doner gyro also carved from pit.
BOTH YEEROS may be order as a side of meat to the salads OR as a sole meat entree to go the selections of Meze OR as the usual pita wraps with all the veggies and real Tzatziki sauce.
🤩 Moussaka: Absolutely smooth, loaded with ground beef, surprisingly smoke flavor from the squash and vegs, the eggplant/aubergine very well cooked.🙃🙃🙃
🤩 Evia salad: Lovely salad with bulgur, greens and chickpeas, with a slice of authentic Feta. Great textures and flavors, pumped up with the lovely lemon vinaigrette.
The eatery itself is a very pleasant cozy room like a Greek neighborhood joint. There are few tables on the sidewalk.👏👏👏
Service is excellent.

Dig in and grab a falafel ball and instantly know they are over cooked. I had to actually use a bit of muscle to break it open. Get my gyro out and once again can instantly tell it's overcooked by the look of the blackened tips (i actually like my food cooked a little longer). While the flavor of the meat was good it was a hassle trying to chew it. I think dude got my order started cooking it and forgot to check on it. You know when the food you cook EVERY SINGLE DAY isn't servable to your customers. I would have waited a little longer to get food I could actually chew.
Why don't people understand we spend the money we work for day after day and don't want to be given a shortcut on the things we buy especially when we patronize small businesses. These falafel balls are laughable the way they sound when you drop them on a hard surface. I'm super greedy hungry so I even tried to peel off the hard outter layer of the ball lol and that didnt work. The recipes are excellent but the execution is terrible I'll stick with Hanadis
When you look at my gyro you may think that dark thing is purple cabbage or lettuce but...
