My wife and I went to this restaurant last night (10/19/2018) since we were in the mood for Italian food. We had a reservation for 8 PM. We got there right at 8 PM and were seated in couple of minutes. The server was helping a large party but was still very responsive and helpful. IOW the service was excellent.
We were also served with water, bread and a parsley dip as soon as we were seated. I am not a big fan of parsley so I found the dip too strong and lacking salt and pepper. We added a little bit of ground pepper to make the dip a lot more appetizing. The waiter recommended an Italian wine, Brunello Montalcino. Suffices to say, hands down, that was the BEST part of the meal. Too bad the restaurant had nothing to do with the creation of the wine :).
We started with an appetizer that had grilled calamari with arugula and cannelloni beans. The calamari was excellent but the salad itself was average since it had very little flavor. It was also very greasy. For main course I ordered the sea food medley with quinoa (on the menu this item is listed as "Quinoa") but I had the chef substitute quinoa with linguine since this restaurant is supposed to specialize in home made pasta. The sauce was flavorful and the sea food was very well cooked but the linguine was tough...
My wife ordered pappardelle with bolognese sauce. It was short on salt and little bit too greasy. The pasta, however, was very good.
We ended with a dessert made with amaretto and chocolate pudding. It was excellent. In summary, there are some items that seem to be excellent and others mediocre. I suspect their wine list is great. Taking all aspects into account, I would rate this restaurant as an "average"...
Read moreThis is mine and my wife's favorite date night for Italian eats. The owner is a super nice and welcoming person, as if everyone is like family. The staff are fantastic folks too, and know everything about the meals and pairings with wine. Our most favorite appetizer is the Bresaola, my goodness so good! My wife always gets one of the specials and it's always a delicious meal. I get either the Pappardelle Bolognese or the Sedanini. Both are rich in flavor and I can taste every ingredient put into the meal. It's truly a hidden gem for those outside the area. If you like wine, your waiter will have the perfect pairing in mind. Even if you don't agree with the recommendation, they have a very nice wine selection to choose from.
Though we want the owner to see it bustling and busy all the time, we can see it going the way of Town eventually, and will get very popular. So we are going to enjoy the ability to make it a date night whenever we can for now. Absolutely recommend, and enjoy your...
Read moreExceptional Italian food: understated sauces to complement the fresh ingredients. Home made pasta in the Taglietelle w shrimp & mushrooms let's you taste the pasta and caramelized onions. The Sedanini (tube pasta, outsourced) delivered on flavor (tomato cream sauce + sausage & roasted peppers) & texture. Pasta were ever so slightly el dente (just right). We had the veal and pork chops for our main. Both were tender and rich with, again, subtle sauces that let the main act (the meats) stand put. Panna Cotta dessert had excellent raspberry & orange sauces to accent. Warm, friendly, & attentive service....
