This is what happens when the City of Belmont tries to put their heads together. They spent so much time maximizing the retail footprint that they forgot to leave room for parking, even though the City’s own rules expect retail to provide at least 2 parking spaces per 1,000 square feet and cap it at 4 per 1,000 in the CMU/RC zones. Instead of designing to meet those standards or securing properly covenanted off-site parking as allowed by the Zoning Ordinance they apparently chose to skirt the issue, leaving customers to spill over onto neighboring properties.
