Roszaks Fish House — Restaurant in Bend

I was always very curious about Roszak's. I've lived in Bend some time now, and had never seen anyone coming or going from this place. I took my youngest son there for dinner a couple of weeks ago, on a whim, and I'm very glad I did! The service was slow, but friendly. The decor was like a time capsule from the eighties. It was spotlessly clean, though. It took a long time to get our dinners, but they were excellent. My salmon was very fresh, and nicely cooked. WAY BETTER than that fish house down by the river. My son's fish and chips were likewise excellent. The veggies were perfect. My son is a chef, by the way. He was impressed, and a little amazed at how good our meals were. Sad to see that in 2019 a gay couple can still find discrimination and poor service just because of a lifestyle. My husband and I wanted to go out and have a new year's dinner at Roszaks in Bend Oregon. We were not trying to draw attention to ourselves, just trying to have a romantic dinner. However, when the staff and what appeared to be "regular customers" realized that we were a couple things changed. The "regular customers" began making rude comments directed at my husband and I. The server clearly heard and condone it. That also reflected in the meals that we both received. The portions were small and under cooked. The reviews I read reflected a much higher standard. Needless to say, will not be returning to Roszaks. I would caution any LGBT couples to think twice before...

Awful! Would get a 1 star, but I was in the mood for fried oysters and even though they were served cool and I had to ask for some sauce, they were actually good. My son asked for a root beer and they brought him a can of soda. His fish with mango ended up with canned mandarin oranges. My seafood sauteed was watered down. We both left more than half of our food which is a first for us. Horrible uncomfortable chairs and bad decor. Had to wait 5 minutes to get seated. Time to just close this pathetic restaurant.
