I dined at this byob hibachi-style restaurant with coworkers. We went midweek when it was less crowded. It was my first time but they (coworkers) have been there several times. I enjoyed sitting around the square Hibachi table & shichirin (Japanese Grill). We enjoyed a variety of dishes from the menu such as appetizers, salads, soup, and tempura dishes for our Chef prepared our main dishes. Because I do not eat any animal products I was impressed that the chef cooked my items on the grill before everyone else's. We enjoyed vegetarian, Seafood and sushi during the main meal strangely I was impressed with the cleanliness of the grills and the hoods over the grills. Unfortunately, we did not like the personality of our chef but we all agreed that we enjoyed the meal that he prepared. Although we were not aware that a house soup came with our meal, I was impressed that the waitress remembered my eating habits & brought my soup in a color-coded bowl noting that it was vegetarian version of everyone else's. Our waitress was polite but did not get our order correct. This appeared to anger the Hibachi chef who had to leave to retrieve more food items for the grill. The chairs are not very comfortable or suitable for larger guests. But if you choose not to sit at the Hibachi tables they did have booths available. I noticed several families with small children enjoying their meals. We had a late dinner and at the end of the night we saw restaurant employees enjoy the restaurants food. The restaurant atmosphere, ambiance and decor could use some updating that would have made my rating higher. I would return to this restaurant...
Read moreI was a bit put off by the appearance of this restaurant. It’s a tiny spot located in a strip mall. Very unassuming to the beholder. Apparently this place does both hibachi and sushi. I was there for sushi and I was pleasantly surprised by the variety on the menu. I ordered the hot fancy roll and the rock & roll. Both were very good. The hot fancy roll tasted fresh and had a good flavor to it. The rock and roll had a very nice texture with a pleasant crunch to it. I also ordered the garden salad with ginger dressing. It was looked very unappetizing and unappealing. The presentation was incredibly poor as a huge amount of dressing was unceremoniously dumped on top of some lettuce with a few random tomatoes mixed in. I LOVE ginger dressing (or anything with ginger, really) but the dressing had a terrible texture and tasted like grated ginger dumped in a bland sauce. The service was great though. Victoria brought us wine glasses for the bottle I brought (the place is BYOB). She took our order promptly and checked back with us during our meal. We were rushed out of the place starting around 9:30 even though the website and the sign on the door said they closed at 10. Perhaps they closed early without notification. We were given our check before we had finished our meal and then she hovered near the table until we got the hint and placed the payment inside. It looked like they had a buffet towards the back but it was closed when I saw it. The bathrooms were nice & clean. Overall this was a solid place with good food. I wouldn’t recommend it for a special occasion but it’s good for a...
Read moreNot sure what happened to this place, but we are never going back. Used to have amazing talent. Now… not so much. We came here to celebrate a birthday, spent over $200 and expected a fun hibachi show.
Grievances:
We got there early, were seated for hibachi, another group was seated on the other end of the counter after us. When the chef came, he cooked for the other group with his back to us. No show. No tricks. He silently cooked, served everyone’s food, and left. We called the waitress over and asked what was going on. She basically said “oops. Sorry. They prefer that range hood.” “But we were here first.” “The chef didn’t know. Sorry.” When we were seated, we told our waiter it was our sons birthday. He didn’t care. He was terse and to the point on getting our orders. After we told the waitress we were upset, she offered us dessert on the house. We were stuffed because we ordered sushi and hibachi for all 5 of us. But we accepted, hoping to make the most of a bad night. It would have been better if they had comped part of the hibachi since we didnt get the show we were paying for.
Anyway, the waitress was helpful and kind. The waiter and chef had no social skills or grace to speak of. Even after years of going here, we are not willing to risk having this happen again. It was embarrassing to have chosen this place to celebrate. We wish you the best and hope you find...
