Two stars for food being somewhat edible. Rest had to be trashed, once we gave up the struggle. Rest is downhill from there: Portion sizes less than other Indian restaurants and hence costs are a bit less (maybe $1-2 less depending upon the dish). Most other Indian restaurants in US serve seasoned rice (ghee/peas etc) with the curries, here it is just plain boiled white rice. I ordered two entree dishes - both had the exact same gravy - the exact same gravy and the description online does not state that nor gives any indication of that. Nor does in any world do these two below mentioned dishes should have the same exact curry: I got the dum aloo and malai kofta - the dum aloo is not dum aloo by any means and it is basically a kashmiri stuffed aloo type dish Both the stuffed aloo and the stuffed kofta had both the stuffing and outside balls that were extremely dry - the koftas were super hard and so were the aloo - and that is not how it is supposed to be - they were so hard that is was an ordeal for us to break them to eat them. The stuffing was some extra dry stuffing over-seasoned with aromatic spices There is a reason that inspite of the logistical issues they were able to prepare these dishes in 10 minutes just after they opened - because they either served me stale dishes from prior days or just took a gravy they had just cooked and put these pre-made aloos/kofta balls lazily into the same curry. I am not visiting this place ever again. I also had a lot of logistical issues with the pick up order where doordash and this merchant blamed each other and then doordash charged me twice for this order and randomly canceled it prior and the restaurant told me they never received the order when I called in on my way there to get an eta - it was quite ridiculous. However, this review is not based upon that experience as I appreciated the fact that the manager/owner chose to still take my order on the phone and seemed genuinely clueless. So I am just taking into consideration the food...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Spice Rack, and I can confidently say it's a hidden gem for anyone seeking truly authentic Indian cuisine. From the moment I walked in, the aroma of spices promised a unique experience, and it delivered in every way.
What sets this restaurant apart is the passion and personal touch Jayesh puts in. You can tell he's not just following a standard playbook; he's whipping up his own recipes, and the creativity and depth of flavor in every dish are incredible. The curries are rich and complex, the tandoor dishes are perfectly cooked, and even the simple basmati rice felt elevated.
The food tastes homemade and authentic, like something you would find in an Indian family's kitchen, not a generic restaurant. It's a testament to Jayesh's skill and dedication. If you're tired of the same old Indian takeout and want to experience the real thing, I highly recommend visiting Spice Rack and tasting the difference. You won't be...
Read moreI would give more than 5 Stars if that was an option, our server Mr Sharif provided us one of the best customer service experiences we had so far in an Indian restaurant. Other staff also appeared highly dedicated to the quality and great food came with super duper presentation, we loved every single bite of the chole bhature, sweet lassi, malai kofta, garlic naan, and chicken 65 we ordered. The sweet lassi they made reminded me of authentic lassi of Amritsar, and the malai kofta was unbelievably addictively super delicious. The decoration and vibe of the restaurant was good too, the walls could use some Indian spices based posters though! They had to go options as well as I could see a few customers pick up their orders. Overall, it was a great experience and I would certainly recommend this to anyone looking to enjoy authentic...
