Called ahead to see if there was a wait. Hostess seemed pretty annoyed with the question and stated it was going to be an hour or more depending on how many people. I said there would be two people and asked if i had to join the waitlist in person. She gave a complicated response but finally said we could join over the phone. After joining the waitlist on Opentable I saw there was only one party ahead of us, a party of 7. I thought this was strange but brushed it off since it was a Saturday night. Luckily we were already in the area, because it turned out to be a 20 minute wait.
Once we arrived we are swiftly seated, I noticed many open tables so I again was confused on were the hour wait came from, but again brushed it off being a former waitress I figured they could be understaffed. Our waitress came over quickly to ask us if we wanted something to drink, we didn't even have a chance to look at the menu. My boyfriend, unassumingly asked for an unsweetened tea to which she informed us they did not serve ice tea or fountain drinks. We order a diet coke and regular coke to which she brought a glass and plastic bottle and a glass of ice. We were a little confused by the service given yeyos is considered relatively more upscale.
As we were putting in our drink orders she also asked if we were ready to order despite not even having time to look at the menu so we kindly asked for a few more minutes. I had been to yeyos about 6 times before the remodel and had excellent service in the past, though the price was higher I was willing to spend more given the portions and quality. After glancing over the menu i noticed some minor changes including a small uptick in price. Again had the food been better the price would not have seemed so tremendous. We both order the street taco plate that came with three tacos rice and beans and decided on carne asada which came topped with onion and cilantro and a green salsa, very standard. The tacos are small with minuscule amount of meat, with the rice and beans also being relatively small. We brushed it off as we understood the company had a farm to table approach meaning there was an expectation to quality over quantity however I personally feel as if the quality of the food was unrealistic to the price.
After our meal our waitress came over to check us out on a hand held kiosk, we immediately noted the expected tip started at 25%, 22% and then 30%, had the service, food, and experience been amazing the assumed tip would seem appropriate however given our disappointment we were shocked by the gratuity standard.
Needless to say were disappointed, the owners response to reviews is also disheartening seeming as the mock people by saying they should find food "in their budget". The food is within our budget, maybe reconsider...
Read moreService is questionable. Sat for a decent amount of time before a server decided to come and place a cup of water on my table, and of course at that moment I’d decided to take a phone call, since I wasn’t being served anyway.
Asked a question about an appetizer and the server didn’t have an answer, meaning they’re new, but obviously untrained.
Ordered coffee and pozole; took 9 minutes to bring my coffee. Pozole is something that’s usually not made to order, so it seems odd that it wouldn’t be out sooner. Not sure where the coffee comes from, but it tastes like the beans were over-roasted. More than fifteen minutes after ordering, someone from the line scooped some pozole into a bowl and brought it out to me, which means it could have been served almost immediately after ordering. I saw so many people come in after me who got their food at the same time. Some of them ordered pozole as well.
The actual pozole was probably one of the blandest I’ve ever had. I had to put a decent amount of salt just to bring out any flavor. The menu states that it comes with chips, and I love chips, so I decided not to order any of the chips from the appetizer section. However, the “chips” that come with the pozole seem to merely be equivalent to a large, very thing corn tortilla that has been air fried or lightly baked.
I spent over an hour here for meal that should have taken no time to prepare at all, and was pretty disappointing in overall flavor. The vibe of the restaurant is nice, but much was left to be desired at the end of my experience. As far as the service goes, if you have your doubts, consider the fact that I’ve had the time to write this review while I’ve been sitting at my table waiting to be served.
2 stars for trying to bring somewhat traditional Mexican flavors to Bentonville. Minus 3 for long wait, lack of flavor, and...
Read moreEater 38 missed the mark here by a long shot. After reading their review, we stopped here for dinner last night. We were surprised to find only a handful of diners at 6:15 on a Thursday night but since we were hungry and tired after a 7 hour drive we asked to be seated. Our server recommended starting with queso and chips. My husband had a beer and since they don’t have any cider, I ordered a glass of house white wine which turned out to be Zolo. The queso and chips arrived but be warned, the chips are not traditional corn chips; they are much more doughy, like a fried pita chip. Still feeling optimistic, we dipped into the queso and didn’t need to bother with another taste. The queso is merely a cheese-like product, think Velveeta, with canned jalapeños added, and garlic powder shaken over the top-truly inedible. The beer arrived in a 12 oz. glass which was fine, but when the $14 glass of wine arrived with a pour of maybe 3 oz. we had to speak up. The manager came over and claimed the beer is a 16 ounce glass, which it most definitely is not, and that the wine was a standard 5 ounce pour which she offered to prove to us using a measuring cup. Instead, she returned to our table with a regular glass filled to where she claimed was the 5 oz. mark and compared it to the glass of wine I had gotten. When there was a noticeable difference she simply added more wine and walked away. What they didn’t know is that my husband is a food scientist who has reverse-engineered thousands of recipes so when he says the food is off and the pours are not what they claim, he knows what he is talking about. We went...
