Meh.... Cute atmosphere inside the restaurant, located in a central location for the surrounding towns, with ample cherry products. But that’s about the last good thing I can say from this point on. Service is slowwwwww, but friendly at least. Food was blerrrgh. The hot turkey that the server kept raving about as one of their staples on an ABSOLUTELY TINY menu, was so dry that I could barely swallow it. They don’t even have grilled chicken to put on their salads. So that was the only reason that I had the turkey with the salad. The gravy for the turkey was promised with my significant others meal, but never was plated. When asked for a side of gravy, they delivered lukewarm and very bland TV dinner style gravy. The American style potatoes served with his meal were terribly soggy, diced up homestyle fries, with way way way too much butter/ oil. Very bland, salt couldn’t even help. The menu had very little to choose from. It was just the American standard for a small Coney Island menu. But even less. They also were charging 18$ for a “tenderized” hamburger patty? The homemade cherry muffin that came with the meal wasn’t even good. The cherries inside of it made the entire thing soggy, and the batter tasted like bisquick. I’m surprised that this place had such a high rating, do these people not have tastebuds? They truly are riding on the tourism for “fresh local cherries”, even though most of the locals in the area know very well that our cherry production has decreased significantly to the point of importing most of our cherries from other states, especially for the ever popular cherry festival. The most mediocre and overpriced tourist trap that I’ve been to in a long time. Spend your money somewhere else people, give other local...
Read moreWe came here for lunch with our daughter as we do every year on vacation! Our server & food were impeccable!!!!!! Before we even received our food we were notified of their NO VOLUME POLICY. Our daughter needs music to distract from having to sit still for about an hour straight (under 2 years) and we were by no means blaring it! The volume was probably at 3/4, So in return, she became overwhelmed, started screaming (way more distracting than twinkle twinkle little star lol) & I didn't even get a BITE of my food before having to leave. She came with us last year and emoloyees had absolutely no problem with us quietly playing music/videos for her. She's sat beautifully at every other restaurant so far on our vacation this year & we have not encountered a NO VOLUME POLICY anywhere else. We were also made aware UPON LEAVING that their NO VOLUME POLICY is not even a real policy. I'm utterly astounded by the lack of communication across staff & am assuming we were targeted by this employee for a personal reason, considering the policy she tried to enforce does not exist. We don't appreciate lying or deceptiveness from businesses small or big. I will be praying for this restaurant & the woman who decided ruining our lunch outing was "doing her job". Children are hard enough to travel with! Please don't...
Read moreOutstanding establishment that does not disappoint! The only people that should not go here are cherry haters, and I cannot imagine how that could be. There is a charming little store with dozens of cherry-themed merchandise items and foodstuffs, including jams, preserves and salsa. They also sell warm freshly made cherry pies. The aroma of the store is intoxicating. Our party of 5 adults HAD to eat the pie before our meal. We all agreed it was the best cherry pie we've ever had.
We were seated after a short wait. The restaurant was packed, as it should be. The menu is diverse and full of recipes involving cherries. We had everything from chicken strips to cherry chicken salad to cinnamon roll and turkey cranberry Havarti grilled sandwich. My wife ordered a spinach salad with sliced apples, pecans, bleu cheese and cherry vinaigrette dressing. She loves salads, and she claimed this was the best she's ever had! We also had cherry muffins (which we will have for breakfast in the morning) and cherry-ade to drink (nothing short of incredible).
Overall, one of the best experiences we've had on a Michigan vacation. We come to the Lake almost every summer for the last decade, but we hadn't been to the Beulah area until this trip. We'll be...
