I was just emailed "come back, we miss you!" and it reminded me of my last experience there. I ordered pickup and my friend picked up the order not realizing they forgot two tabbouleh salads that I paid $1.99 extra for each. When I called, they told me to come back and get them - I live in Madison Heights now! it's already a 1/2 hour round trip. When I complained they said there was nothing they could do because a manager wasn't in until the next day. I called the next day and was told they would refund my credit card. They gave me a $3.99 credit! I don't know how much the salad costs that comes with an entree, but that was ridiculous. I lived in Berkley 15 years ago and this place was the bomb. They claim it hasn't changed ownership, but the food quality has gone down considerably. the beef shwarma was wet, not grilled like it used to be and the rice pilaf was mushy - no slivered almonds, and no pickled radish on the side, just sliced onion. Portion size was also smaller-we could eat a week from a meal for two back then! The pita was good, but its a bagged commercial brand and the hummus tasted okay but it was "frothy" like air had been whipped into it, not thick and rich like it used to be. So disappointed. I will...
Read moreI can't say enough about this place. There is a reason they won so many awards and it's because they're awesome! We were told about this place and when we went in it was of course off-putting because they're in a gas station, but it was so cutely done and the people were so friendly and treated you like you were family. They explained the history of the restaurant and how they were trained by Lebanese chefs and they took that training so seriously cuz they nailed it! They insisted that we wait for the mujadara to finish cooking on the stove. We watched the caramelized onions bubbling on top and could smell such a Heavenly smell. I personally had had it warm and home-cooked, only in containers from Oasis. He explained how it would change taste as the temperature changed and OMG incredible. There are no words to describe it. Their rice and the slivered toasted almonds is the best race I've ever had. The spices on the chicken are so unique. We have turned so many people on to that place and everyone falls in love with it at first bite. They really have generous portions too. Since I became a vegetarian I am so relieved that they have the vegetarian grape leaves and can I tell you they are delectable, the best...
Read moreUPDATE: 3/9/23. Had to return due to family request. Simple order, 2 half orders of entree chicken shawarma. I was over charged again and the wrong order was received. Also, the chicken was dry this time. The rice is not similar to other ME (Middle Eastern) food in that it lacked flavor.
Ask for a copy of your receipt before they put your order on the counter to be cooked because it may be wrong. If you wait till you pay, you will have to wait again to have your food cooked to have it corrected. This time other family members were affected also. Hopefully they are now convinced that this place is not worthy and I will not have to return. I prefer a different ME restaurant. There are too many other ME restaurant options in Metro Detroit to consistently receive bad quality from one restaurant.
2 months prior to March 2023 update. Check your order for accuracy and make sure they charge you per the menu. I was overcharged for a Chicken Wrap versus sandwich. Then they forgot the sandwich.
