I'm a trucker and I'm no stranger to Bar-B-Q. This place is right on my route and today (Thursday, January, 26th 2017 approx. 6:15pm) is the first time I decided to stop in. First of all, I am very much looking forward to my next visit. Losing my 'Full Moon virginity' was a mostly pleasant experience, the staff was friendly and helpful. A few of my fellow patrons were even friendlier.
The Full Moon Bar-B-Q had a wonderfully inviting atmosphere with a nice and diverse customer base and staff, which I can appreciate. Very wide variety of menu options, I was somewhat overwhelmed by the choices in the best possible sense. The decor is athletically inspired with sports memorabilia from wall to wall and even one more wall, but very one note. The dining room seats somewhere from 30 to 40 customers comfortably, but the restroom has only room enough for two (2) with one stall and one urinal.
Now the important part, the food. On this, my maiden voyage into this establishment I wasn't keen on over doing it so I chose something rather simplistic. The original buffalo wings, they were mostly good with just the right amount of spice I was looking for, but not all the wings I ordered were fresh. Half of them were fresh, tender, moist and delectable, but the other half were very clearly older and overcooked to the point where ripping flesh from bone was as difficult as removing professionally installed carpet from the floor and had the consistency and texture of old jerky.
I also had the potato salad, which was tasty, but not particularly mind blowing. The best word to describe the potato salad is adequate. The wait time for my food wasn't long at all and was served promptly, in fact I spent more time deciding on what to order than it took to have the food very courteously hand delivered to my table. For my drink I had sweet tea, which I very thoroughly enjoyed.
Overall, I was pleased by my dining experience and understand that sometimes older food like half of my wings will be served in an effort to not waste food. Perhaps had I complained about the condition of my sub-par wings they might have replaced them with fresher wings, but at this point I was already very much full and receiving complimentary replacement wings would have only resulted in me refrigerating and consuming them at a later time, at which point I'm still eating old wings, a lose-lose situation.
In closing, I look forward to my next visit where I will try different items on their menu and leave another comprehensive review on my experience. Until then, eat well.
SPECIAL NOTE TO FELLOW TRUCKERS: Parking is not ideal for large vehicles, I was driving Bobtail and still had to park in a nearby shopping center and walk from...
Read moreWe went here, to the Bessemer location at exit 1, on a Friday in the early evening. Being from out of town, we weren’t sure where to go for bbq. Our aunt and uncle wanted to have barbecue for dinner and others suggested we try Full Moon. Our uncle agreed that Full Moon had very good bbq and they liked it but, after reading some of the reviews, we were a little hesitant to try it. Since it was what our uncle agreed with, we went to Full Moon anyway. We are so glad that we did.
My uncle said that he liked beef and pork bbq chopped up together, so we ordered four two-meat plates, plus some other sides. I have to say that, despite what some people had written in their reviews, the service was quick, as we waited less than 14 minutes for our whole order. (I timed it, after reading a few reviews, just to check how long it took.)
The lady who took our order to go, Kodee, was friendly, helpful, and patient while we made up our minds on what to order. She made suggestions to us and made us feel welcome with her help, her great attitude, and her lovely smile.
When we were ordering, we also bought one Corona for each of us to enjoy while waiting. They were nice and cold. Kodee had to get the manager, James, to check out our IDs since we are from out of state. James, also, was friendly and thorough, explaining why he had to check the IDs himself, though we are both definitely over 21. James had a great attitude, also.
The beef and pork was delicious ~ moist and flavorful, and the portions were huge. The corn on the cob was really hot with great flavor, the fried green tomatoes were not mushy, as a couple of people had written, but nice and crisp, and the fried okra was tender and good. We also bought one of their huge loaded baked potatoes to share, just because they looked sooo good, and it was delicious! All four of us had some of it and had some left over to have again over the weekend. No wonder some people get this potato alone as their dinner here!
The restaurant was clean, too, from top to bottom. Oh, I almost forgot ~ everything that we ordered was in our bag. Nothing was missing.
So ~ from Kodee and James to the delicious food we enjoyed, I have to give Full Moon five stars.
Try it for yourself! If you don’t like it, you simply cannot be pleased. I just know that, if you like bbq, you’ll...
Read moreDuration: 6:15pm - 6:50pm
Service: Curbside (Call-in)
Order: Grill cheese, fries, a large sweet tea
Outcome: Cancelled Order
Experience: Given these uncertain times I totally understand how all of us are affected when it comes to performance and service. However, this experience was considerably lack of effort. I placed a call in order and arrived at curbside at 6:20pm. I noticed throughout the 30-minute duration of waiting that roughly 38 new orders had been completed through the drive thru and also 6 individuals who showed up after I did received their order via curbside. When the drive thru line was extremely short, I made a call at 6:42 pm to ask if I can go through the drive thru to pick up my order. I was told "no" and was asked for the 3rd time which parking section I was in. I gave my number and waited an additional 8 minutes to watch the attendant provide food to someone who parked for curbside service roughly at 6:44pm. This experience is equivalent to the manager at this same establishment giving my food to someone else. I watched the consumer go through my order to tell them that it's not theirs. The manager apologized to them and literally took the same plate and gave it to me without replacing the food. I will end this review calmly stating that I'm truly disappointed. This review is for those who depend on feedback. All calls with this establishment were recorded to show the integrity of this business. If possible, please avoid copying and pasting a generic response to this review in which prepared responses does not value the consumers' who take the time out to express their experiences. ...
