What can I say. I'm from New Rochelle, New York and there are basically only two things I know well. One is Chinese Food (Cantonese) and the other, and my first choice is pizza. Papa Angelo's is without a doubt the real deal, hands down, no question about it. While living in Oklahoma City I would make it over to Papa's anywhere from 2 to times a week. I had become saddened for years since I had to wait until I went back home to New York to get a decent pizza, and then a number of years ago, quite by accident I wandered into the old restaurant on 38th (before the big move) and it only took a few seconds and the aromas just hit me like a ton of bricks and I knew I was home! On top of this, when I heard the New York accents bouncing around the room, well the next step was "is this gonna be a real pizza or is it gonna be another mass produced Pizza Hut garbage pie?". Nope, it was the real deal, right down to the crust and I mean the real deal, and you had to fold it in half, almost brought tears to my eyes and over the years there hasn't been one person that I referred there that hadn't gone out of their way to contact me later and absolutely rave about this place and the food and the service and the prices , well, the whole deal. My next door neighbors, here in Edmond, but from New Jersey, took my advice and drove down to Papa Angelo's about a year and a half ago, and to this day, I still listen to the couple telling our other neighbors and friends how they just have to make the drive to the city and get a real New York Pizza! Now that I'm retired and have some time on my hands, I look forward to making that pilgrimage to Bethany on a more regular basis, to get the only real pizza in the state. Even my doctor and a number of his nurses emailed me after I advised him to check it out since he too is a pizza lover, like all sane people. This is one place where you will never leave hungry and you'll want to tell all your friends about it, cause there's nothing else like it in the state. So, if you want to get the real deal, take a drive to Bethany OK and stop by Papa Angelo's for a real, honest to goodness New York Pizza. Even my family, all still in New Rochelle, New York, when they come to visit, demand that I go to the city and get a couple of Empires to feed the hoard! Hey, we're New Yorker's, and one thing we definitely know, no exceptions, is PIZZA, and this is the best, I mean,...
Read moreI have ordered pizzas here for a couple of years now. After my most recent visit, I will never be going back. They actually have the best pizza in town when it is made correctly. The problem is they are not consistent and they don't understand the value of a repeat customer. I ordered a pizza today and when I opened the box at the restaurant, it had 4 inches of crust in several places. When I pointed this out to the owner (Joe) he said he would remake it but he also stated very loudly, in front of other customers, that I complain every time. In the 2 years I've ordered pizza here, out of maybe 20-30 pizzas, they have re-made it 3 or 4 times. Also, I reminded him the last 10 or so pizzas I've order have been perfect and I had no complaints. So I was very offended that he made that accusation. This is very expensive pizza. A medium 2 topper is over $16. I cannot pay that amount of money for 4 inches of crust. He told me that I should tell them whenever I order to make sure the ingredients are spread out further. That is something that should be done without the customer requesting it. I have spent a lot of money at this establishment which I feel gives me the right to let them know when they fall short without being made out to be a problem customer and being yelled at. Eat here at your own risk. If you pay your money and keep quiet, even if the quality is lacking, you will not be treated as I was. To her credit, the owner's wife is very understanding and will patiently listen to your concerns. The owner and his son are simply hot heads who feel nothing is...
Read moreThe pizza was delicious. The crust is firm and that is how i like my pizza. They do not accept touchless payment methods such as apple pay and prefer to receive payments in cash as they give you a discount for paying in cash. The pizza is quite good and is the closest to new york style pizza as you can get in oklahoma. I recalled my experiences of having actual new york pizza in brooklyn and although this place is quite good wasnt up to par with the real deal for a couple of reasons. The pizzeria has the vibe of a true pizza establishment that had been in business of providing pizzas to the community for decades. This place reminds me of those types of pizzerias i enjoyed back in california growing up. I gave the place 5 stars but then i realized the quality doesnt quite match the quality of pizza places of smiliar price in california or new york or even other states while being on the expensive end of pricing. There were some pizzerias back in california of greater quality for less price that i recalled reminiscing and realized it doesnt do justice for other places to rate this place so highly. If inflation is the reason for pricing i have to deduct a star since if this was a place in california or new york would fall in the middle of pack...
