On a scale of documentaries to fluffy romance, Pasta Too is a story that my family loves to repeat over and over again. This restaurant offers an experience from the decor to the service to the menu. I love Pasta Too. Throughout the years, we've celebrated many occasions at Pasta Too. Most recently, my dog thanked my parents for watching her with a meal from Pasta Too -- I was the coordinator, and we picked up takeout. We ordered a Fried Zucchini appetizer, Chicken Alfredo, Ravioli, and two desserts (Cheesecake & Carrot Cake). One of the things I adore about Pasta Too is their commitment to flavor AND portion size. Someone with better control than I could get two meals from one entree. Pasta Too also doesn't scrimp on their desserts. Each slice is large and impressive on its own (easily feeding two people with one). Honestly, Pasta Too is doing something right with their Italian meals, and they should never change this. Pro Tips: While I adore Pasta Too, I do find it frustrating that they do not have online ordering (or even call-ahead takeout ordering aka I cannot call at 11 am to place a 5 pm takeout order). Their parking lot is abysmal, especially at peak hours. Do yourself a favor and park across the street in the strip mall parking lot.

Be prepared to wait! We had heard about this place and were excited to give it a try. Showed up at 5:30 on a Saturday and it was a 1.5 to 2 hour wait so we went somewhere else. We tried again this past weekend, we showed up at 4:50 and waited a half hour for a table for two, no big deal. Our server was great and immediately asked if we wanted to order our food because it was going to be a while so we did. Complimentary bread and oil was great. We also had a Caesar salad and wedding soup that were good. Food came out an hour later. The food is good, I had the penne vodka and my husband had the chicken parm. The portion sizes for the price can’t be beat, it is not too expensive and we had leftovers for at least another meal. The pasta is not homemade so we felt like the overall taste was average. Unfortunately I don’t think we will come again just because the wait is not really worth the quality of the food, but this place is a classic in Bethel Park and we are glad we got to try it. We just weren’t expecting to show up before 5 and not actually be able to eat dinner until after 6:30. There is also minimal waiting area or seating when waiting for a table.

Normally, I review from the perspective of myself & my husband. This review will be slightly different as my husband and I had different experiences. Let’s start with my husband’s. First & foremost I would like to mention both my husband and I come from families of restaurateurs. We’ve both worked in said restaurants at various points throughout lives. With that said, I have never experienced a situation where a meal was sent back to the kitchen & the manager did not personally come to the table to see what went wrong & then do their best to rectify the issue with the customer. Thats what happened tonight in this restaurant. My husband was not happy with his meal. He said the broiled fish was watery and because of that it took away the flavor of his meal. It was very bland. He took 3 bites & then spent the remaining time with the meal pushing it around the plate until I suggested he speak up. After speaking up, our waitress took the meal and didn’t mention anything else about it. No manager came to check on him. Nothing. When the check came, the meal was still on it so my Husband, the customer, went searching for the manager to see if it could be discounted or even removed. The manager was combative & overall unkind in the way she dissected & deflected the issues. She told my husband that he ate more than he actually did (which was false) & refused to acknowledge that the customer in her restaurant was unhappy. Ultimately, $6 was removed from our bill which is nothing in the grand scheme of things but that’s fine. Money was no issue here, customer service was. Upon leaving the restaurant the entire kitchen staff was loudly speaking about the meal that was returned. The manager was right there, engaging with them. When people choose a restaurant to dine in they are essentially trusting that restaurant with their experience and hoping that the restaurant doesn’t disappoint them. My husband trusted Pasta Too & was let down immensely. He will not be returning & I don’t blame him one bit. Every restaurant has moments where things may not sit right with a customer & if the customer is being kind & understanding with the faults of said restaurant then it’s only right for that same energy to be returned. Not for the finger to be pointed at the customer as if them not liking the food is a personal attack on the restaurant because the restaurant is “perfect”. No restaurant is perfect, not even Gordon Ramsay’s. On a lighter note, my experience was good. I really enjoyed my veal parmigiana & the clam chowder (my husband also enjoyed the clam chowder). The Alfredo sauce was definitely from scratch and I appreciate the care I tasted in my meal. The sauces weren’t rushed or from a shelf of a store. Actual time went into them. Thank you for that. I felt that our waitress, Pamala, was nice & attentive but a little all over the place. Not in a bad way but you could tell she’s a seasoned vet and I respect that. I personally loved the red sauce and I don’t like many ppl’s red sauce. I was born & raised in little Italy so my expectations for “authentic Italian” is a lot higher than most & I was not disappointed here by the food or atmosphere. Just the management. My husband would give this place 0 Stars based on his experience. And I’d give it 4 so we’re gonna settle with 2. Although I enjoyed my meal, I won’t be returning. A good restaurant is more than good food. It’s good customer service with good management thats empathetic & makes sure their customers feel comfortable & safe with their choice to be a patron.

It pains me to leave such a low review for a highly-rated place, but I feel like I need to, anyways. Moving to the area, I saw a lot of "Pasta Too"s products on sale at Giant Eagle. I figured that if a place sold their own sauce & pasta in stores, it would be an authentic, good place. And so I visited Pasta Too, assuming it would be great Italian food. Not quite. Let me first start with the positives: the stuffed mushroom appetizer was pretty decent. And the staff (including the various servers) were very friendly. That's not necessarily a given everywhere, so I feel it should be mentioned. Great staff. Okay, so for the more negative stuff. The food was bland. The pasta sauce was WAY too sweet, and tasted like Chef Boyardee. I got the Romano Chicken, and everything from the batter/breading to the actual chicken itself tasted weird. The water tasted like it came from a toilet. The salad was cold and I'm pretty sure the salad was prepped and then left in the fridge. The eggplant parmesan tasted like it was frozen prior to being served. I originally came to Pasta Too because I saw it had a 4.5 rating and mostly good reviews. Perhaps I came on an off day. It happens. Or maybe I just have a different standard. Either way, I was left disappointed and regretted spending that much on a meal that would've been 10x better at Olive Garden. I won't be returning, BUT I hope that everyone else has a better experience. I guess I'm just the outlier. And again, the staff was very nice, so that's a good thing. I wish this restaurant the best, even after my experience.

Google is prompting me to update this review. I didnt really remember what I wrote originally, but I just read it over and everything still applies. Good food, everything is fresh and delicious, and still just so popular that it is hard to park and they're almost always jam packed. Still worth it every time. Love the place. The original review, as follows, is still spot on toy thoughts today: Portion sizes are fantastic. Everything is freshly made. Never had ANYTHING here that hasnt been delicious. The house red sauce is a bit on the savory rather than sweet side of sauces. The bread and dipping oil is fantastic. Tried the steak calzone for the first time last night and it can best be described as a delicious solid version of a french onion soup with a lot of meat. The stuffed banana pepper app is amazing...stuffed with sausage and covered in cheese. Every time I go I forget how much I really love the food. The downside is that its just so popular theyre almost always jammed. Expect to wait for a table and sometimes wait a bit for the food as well. But the wait it always worth it.
