Read moreThe unanimous five stars seemed a bit excessive. Perhaps the gluten free hook creates enthusiasm and bravo for that.
The Greek salad had a balsamic dressing that complemented the olives and feta well. The Reuben used a sweet kraut closer to coleslaw. Too sweet overall, but the toast was grilled superbly and the corned beef seemed to be superior. A wide array of teas and beverages can provide an inexhaustible supply of accompaniment. The Waldorf wrap was generous with the turkey but we agreed the turkey drowned out the waldorf flavor. A terrific idea for a sandwich and who can complain too much about an innovative recipe not tweaked the way we would have. Nitpicky of us.
The staff was exceptionally attentive and the atmosphere combination of fine dining and deli was novel, fun, and appetizing. 5.0 rating though? It's a terrific little haunt, but Bethesda is RICH with such venues. Cafe Lilit is worthy of placement in the rotation, but the gushing here was a bit...
Read moreCute little Italian deli/mini market with some Indian Food options and overall very gluten free friendly. I'm Celiac and my husband generally sticks to the gluten free diet whenever he is with me. My husband has the gf mahi mahi and said it was great. I had the gf french toast and a gf egg with cheese sandwich. My husband really liked his meal. Mine was pretty good and options I usually can't get elsewhere. My husband tried the gf peanut butter gelato. He is generally very picky about ice cream and gelato but he thought this one was very good. I had the gf red velvet cupcakes and it's the best I've had in the area.
In the market area we found gluten free beers we couldn't find elsewhere and a whole freezer section with goodies from a gluten free bakery, Sweet 27. There was also an aisle dedicated to gluten free products from popular gluten free brands.
As a Celiac, this place struck me with awe and a sense of giddiness. We will...
