If you ever want to experience 1930's hole in the wall diner with the BEST food around, mosey over to Peter's Carryout. Parking meters on the street, around the block, and a metered lot diagonally behind the building. The store front is on a very busy street, so call head and ask a friend to hop out of the car to pick up. You won't be disappointed.
So far EVERYTHING has been delightful and my family cleans the plates: hearty helpings of Philly style steak-n-cheese with or without extras options (ham, etc), chicken slovaki platter, the Italia sub, hot crispy fries (with or without Old Bay seasoning), and onion rings and more.
The staff are so kind, polite, and work together as an amazing, well-oiled machine. This place isn't huge, yet they weave in and out behind the counter and crank out a huge number of dishes every 3 to 5 minutes. Each plate looks great, and they have a knack for presentation. The french style sub roll is FRESH and crispy on the outside, with chewy deliciousness on the inside. They dont have to advertise - it's THAT amazing!
For a gluten-free dish, they put philly cheese steak on a bed of shredded lettuce, tomato, onion, etc, and I was 100% satisfied. Another time, the chicken slovaki w dressing and tsaki sauce, and if I wasnt in public I would have licked the plate, it was soooooo good.
Hot coffee, iced tea, fountain soda, some soda, and water bottles (to go) are available, as well as fried seafood, mozzarella sticks, homemade chili and soup, and dessert. Lots of options.
There is one step (PULL door to open), and the place is really small, did I say it was a hole in the wall? There is little space behind the counter, permanent stools at the counter, and just enough room to stand behind a stool to watch soccer on the large tv. The owner supports vets and offered to carry my family member inside to eat rather than our car. I fell in love w the owner and staff from that minute on. His adult son looks just like him, and just as kind, and the cooks are friendly and phenomenal.
Fries come in a huge basket, as do onion rings, and they are hot when ready! Be careful- lol! You'll want to eat them fast they are so good.
Please tip well - these folks deserve...
Read moreExcellent food, excellent service. Their friendly and welcoming staff will go above what is necessary to assist and provide quality service. Peter's Carryout has a long history of serving people and plenty of return customers known on a first name basis that the staff can recognize from a glance. They have a large variety of great tasting American Comfort Food that is speedily and carefully prepared that can be accompanied by a small variety of refreshing beverages of which to compliment and accompany their meals. Many of my associates eat their once a week and everyone I introduce to it love it. When this pandemic is over it may become crowded and a lot busier than it is, but it would be worth it to fight for a stool at the counter. But for now it's simply carryout, as the name would suggest, with no indoor dining and a capacity limit for those waiting to pick up. Peter's Carryout is definitely a must stop visit for anyone looking to enjoy good American...

The steak and cheese here, a.k.a. Philly cheesesteak, was very literally the best Philly cheesesteak that I have ever tasted. I was visiting from Texas and decided to try this place out with a buddy who said, "They have the best Philly cheesesteak." Naturally I assumed it was an exaggeration, but I still went to try it out; he was not exaggerating. We ate there every single day we were in town, Monday through Friday, and I tried various items on the menu. Every single item I ate was excellent. There are good places all over, but you rarely find excellent places to eat.
If you are ever in the area, you should absolutely swing by Peter's Carry Out, but please note, this establishment is not for the Faint of Heart ;)
