Genwa is fantastic! My husband loves Korean BBQ, but I'm not a huge fan. So it took a special occasion to get ourselves here. We were lucky to find street parking not too far away - valet is $6. There was also quite a lengthy wait - over 30 minutes. But the food that followed was so superlative that it made the wait totally worth it!

We kept it simple and ordered combo A for the two of us - the mains were prime galbi and bulgogi chicken. The combo also came with japchae, soon tofu, brown rice, gyerinjjim (Korean steamed egg that was bubbling as it reached us!), house salad and wait for it....26 types of banchan! (Yes, I counted!) Honestly, I could've spent the entire meal sampling the banchan; plus we had a wonderful server who explained the various dishes to us and brought us second and even third helpings of our favorites (our faves were the fish cakes, dried calamari and the little savory pancakes whose names I do not know)

Just we were beginning to feel full, the meats arrived! Ordinarily, I would've wondered how 2 meats would fill us up, but I hadn't counted on the unlimited banchan and other sides. While the bulgogi chicken arrived already cooked, our server pretty much did most of the work while grilling the prime galbi at our table. The galbi was the juiciest, most tender meat I have ever eaten (probably one of the fattiest too, but when it tastes as great as it did, I don't really care!). The bulgogi chicken was good too, but everything paled in comparison to the galbi!

Honestly, the meal was enough to warrant a five star rating, but they went above and beyond with service that treated us like royalty, and the nice touches at the end - the sweet rice tea (totally regretting that I didn't ask for more!) and the foot-shaped lollipops! Genwa is definitely pricey (the meal came to $80 with tax and tip, and no drinks or dessert) , but I can't think of a nicer place to celebrate a...

So I had my graduation party here several weeks ago and it was a great success!!!

The private room upstairs has a small booking fee but was totally worth it. It fit over 45 of my friends and family. Our servers Ed and Sofia really took care of us. We had ordered numerous grouped courses which had such a great variety of dishes already, but they were super accommodating with additional dishes from different individuals as well. I especially appreciated the attention to detail they reserved for my cousin and guest, who are vegetarians. THANK YOU for helping them feel welcome at a K-BBQ restaurant.

The private room doesn't have the grill tables, thus all our dishes were cooked on the side and served to us...which was actually very beneficial because we were wearing nice clothes from the ceremony and there wasn’t a fear of smoke smell clinging to our clothes.

For the meat dishes, I find that the price is not as low as other places, but the quality and service has always been superior.

Ed and Sofia also remained very calm while dealing with little kids running around and friends/family coming in and out to greet me. They also helped me cut two whole cakes to serve to everyone as well.

And of course, in Genwa fashion, the numerous barchan dishes excited my family so much because they love kimchi, pickled vegetables, egg, as well as other small dishes. My dad told me that next time he visits LA, I should take him back to...

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place. Pricey, though in line for most Korean BBQ spots, but DE-LICIOUS. The wait staff are mostly men and GORGEOUS. Go just for the eye candy. Sweetness on the eyes and sweetness in the belly. Doesn't. Get. Any. Better. Than. That. Hee. Hee. They brought my young daughter unlimited kim and bap, which she loves, along with kid size and geared plates, chopsticks, etc. A banchan heaven, as the amount of sides are INSANE. Like Crazy Eddie. Insane. You have to be of a certain age bracket to know what I'm referencing, unless that's on vintage rewind like so many things. Everything looked and tasted beautiful, including the dessert. My daughter likes the purity of ice cream without the pomp and circumstance, so they were nice enough to bring her pure ice cream. ; ) To top the sweetness of the evening, a colored flower lollipop was distributed to all of us ladies. It was all ladies for the evening in our party. I would definitely go to this place over and over. I am dreaming of it now even as I write this... ; ) [Bonus: the valet is cheapest I have ever seen... I think I remember $5 or something...

first time at genwa’s beverly hills location and it did not disappoint! it was surprisingly empty when we came for dinner on a wednesday evening and were seated immediately. love the bigger space and that this location has long booths where only one side has the bbq grill so we could put the little ones safely on the side without. staff is super attentive, friendly and amazing with the children. at one point my 3yo started getting restless and a server showed up with a robot toy to entertain him with. they also have cute character paper plates for them to eat off of and lollipops on hand for dessert, though they make sure to have the parents’ approval before handing them out. best part is the food! their banchan is the best and we got several refills of our favorites. we went with C course for our party of 3 adults and 2 little ones and we were stuffed by the end. everything was amazing - meats were melt in your mouth, sauces flavorful and sundubu was perfectly spicy. prices are not cheap but you definitely get what you pay for. we never visit LA without a stop at genwa!

An enjoyable night. We called for a reservation, and as soon as we got there we were brought back very quickly. We got package E for 5 people, and it came with a nice assortment of food. The service was superb, and the staff was very kind and explained everything well. They cooked the food for us in the grills at our table, allowing us to converse without worrying. The food was cooked perfectly and was at a very nice quality. My only qualm was the price: around $500 for drinks and tip for 5 people. The menu prices were not posted online, red flag. Unlike many other Korean bbq restaurants we’ve visited, the food is unlimited. Here, not the case. If you want good quality food and are able to forgo the unlimited quantity (and have a deep as hell wallet), it’ll be a great night. If that bothers you, I suggest to look elsewhere.

They burnt all our BBQ - which didn’t taste anything special anyway. Knowing Korean food very well and having been to South Korea and eating Korean across the US, Singapore, Dubai and other countries, I can confidently say that their Bibimbap was the worst I have ever had (old and none-fresh ingredients, very dry rice, non-cooked potato and flavorless). They forgot to bring out some dishes on time so they ended up remembering to bring them out as soon as ordered the bill. Very disappointed with this restaurant and questioning if they only served us left overs or if their google reviews are authentic to start with! The only and I MEAN one and only good thing about this place is the wide variety and abundance of appetizers (Banchan) they brought out to the table. These were actually not bad at all.
