The rooms were ok, the bathrooms large and spacious. Not great views and lots of construction around the hotel. I have to admit that I have had better stays at competitors in the area. As another review mentioned Gus is phenomenal and truly the stars are for his lovely nature. Aside from him, however, the staff could be more attentive and nicer to guests. The donât remember your name nor greet you. No special welcome amenity. I wasnât even told where the gym was. Hidden charges only communicated upon checkout (using Amex FHR). Specifically the front desk staff needs better service training. Upon check in the young lady that assisted spoke in a very rushed manner and took very long to check me in. I soon realized it was because her focus was on a famous individual that arrived after me with his entourage. When I made an inquiry in regards to my room she actually made me wait until she dealt with the entourage who came after me - about 5 mins-until she deemed to speak to me again. She also kept stressing that I received an upgrade when the room was smaller than the original room and had a view of the alleyway. To be clear this is not an upgrade. I also personally do not love when a hotel consistently reinforces they gave you an upgrade like they did you a favor. If you chose to give a guest an upgrade you can communicate it but then move on. If the front desk staff is not educated on the different rooms and room types they really should not be assigning guests upon check-in. Overall you donât want to dislike your experience; itâs just not how you want to feel when youâre spending the type of money it costs to stay there. You donât want to be made to feel like your stay is not important. Interestingly enough when I had a drink at the bar the evening I stared, I heard a couple comments a lot of the same critiques of my experience to the bartender.
The checkout process was just as dismal as the check in with the same individual. Iâm sorry to say that though I looked forward to the stay, It just wasnât a friendly or a positive experience. Going forward I will return to other hotels in the area of which Iâve had a fantastic time and have felt...
Read moreWe were going to LA for spring break with our 9 year old from the east coast, and debated a lot about where to stay. Overall, we had a great stay at the L'ermitage (with a few small issues described below). ||The good:||- Great location, you can walk to Rodeo drive, grocery stores, restaurants, and are close to everything in Beverly Hills||-The hotel is in a residential area, and at least our room in the back was very quiet, which is so hard to find||-Service is really top notch without being stuffy. You just feel that everyone wants to help you (if you need it). No one felt like we were a bother. Honestly, this is what sets the hotel apart. ||-Valet/parking (yes, it's expensive, but seems to be the going rate for hotels in LA) was really good. It was always smooth and quick. ||-The room, which was just a regular room, was incredibly spacious with a great dressing area/closet that helped keep everything tidy||-While not a family hotel, it was very child friendly, and we saw multiple other children. We were able to get a cot for our 9 year old ($35 per night, the sofa could be used but is not an actual sofa bed)||||The not so good:||- The hotel has a roof top pool, and while small (you could not do laps) is great for a dip or kids. It is also not very busy, so the small size is not such an issue. However, while it is supposed to be heated to 86 degrees, while we were there something went wrong with the heater and it took multiple days to reheat and be usable. In addition, this was not really announced to us and we had to ask. It was a bit of a disappointment. ||- We ate at the restaurant for a lunch, a dinner, and everyday for breakfast. On average, the restaurant was quite good (prices are a bit high, though again, seem to be the norm for LA), but we did run into an issue at our last breakfast when we ordered the pastry basket. The pastries were clearly stale and they had reheated them to try to mask this. Eventually the manager did take care of it, but it took a bit to get to that point. ||||Overall, we would definitely go back there and would recommend it to...
Read moreStayed here last weekend with my parents. Upon check in I was treated as if I was in the wrong place and didn't belong. The associate seemed puzzled when I told him I was checking in. Booked with Amex FHR and did NOT receive a room upgrade. We checked in on Thursday and the hotel seemed almost empty so I doubt no rooms were available. I will be writing to AMEX and suggesting they remove them from the FHR program as this seems to be a common complaint. Was put in room 515, was mostly clean but furniture, carpet, and decor is showing wear and tear, badly needs an update. Guest shower didn't drain properly. One of the lamps in the living room areas was leaning and broken which I wouldn't expect for the cost I paid for the suite. Worst of all there was a loud "knocking and banging" construction like sound going on the entire time. I asked the bellman, Gus, what the sound was. He shrugged his shoulders and said hopefully it stops soon. We called down to the front desk twice over a two night stay about the sound and just got "hopefully it stops soon". No offers to change our room. With Amex one of there perks is late check out....however my family and I left as soon as possible on check out day as we were awakened by the construction sound/banging at 4am in the morning and couldn't even think straight. For thousands a night, this is completely unacceptable and deplorable. I told Alex upon check out about the constant banging and again, all I got was a shoulder shrug response. Upon leaving, I saw that we were put back next to the electric closet and perhaps that was the source of sound..so if you get put in room 515, basically they hate you and want you to leave immediately. Lastly, the room service meal that we spent hundreds on was so poorly prepared the entire meal was essentially left untouched by all three of us and we went to bed hungry. If you don't look rich, white, and/or are a celebrity you are not wanted here. plain and simple. We will try the Four...
