DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! This hotel is not as pictured at all! Rooms are dirty, outdated, cramped, and poorly maintained. When checking in my sheets and towels had mysterious stains all over them, in addition to the room looking much more run down than the photos. When I called customer service I was told theres nothing they can do because I already checked in. How would I know there would be stains on everything and the room looked completely different if I hadn't to checked in? I was moved to another room which is more cramped than the other. The doors all have keypads that say they auto lock, but our door would not, which we didn't realize, until coming back to our room later in the day. There is no desk attendant at night or security or staff to keep eyes on who is coming in and out of the hotel. Completely unsafe. The TV requires an access code that no one has and is stuck in another language. The air conditioning is in the window behind curtains so you either have to choose to be cool, with your curtains open (unsafe at night in my opinion, especially at street level) OR leave your curtains closed and let your room become a sauna! The shower curtains are all ripped, or dont cover all the way and have no liner, so your bathroom easily floods. If you want water you have to get a paper cup and walk downstairs to a water cooler. There is no cleaning service, unless for a fee, and extra towels you have to get yourself. For the amount you pay to stay here there are plenty of better hotels in the area I have stayed at. Ive stayed at nicer motels. DO NOT stay here if you are a solo female traveler, or honestly, anyone at all.

I was overall happy with this hotel. It suited our needs well. All staff were polite and friendly. Pros: window that opens, an AC, a ceiling fan, fridge, coffee machine, comfortable bed, big tv, great location. Cons: gaps in wall next to AC (cold air escapes), ceiling fan not adjustable (seemed to be set on max and looked like it was ready to fall off the ceiling, we were too afraid to use it at night), no blinds just curtains (which block the AC so you can't close them at night if the AC machine is on), hot water at the sink was a drip (just wash hands with cold setting). Some things weren't as pictured: no bathroom shelf, no mirror in the main room, only 1 hard chair (not padded) with table (standard couple cannot sit at table with 1 chair and someone who works cannot sit for long on metal chair). These things were the opposite of what was pictured online. Despite the cons we would actually stay again. However i will mention a few things that are probably an isolated event but management should be aware: housekeeping came into our room despite privacy/do not disturb sign on door, we had an ant problem on day 2, mentioned it on the app but I ended up solving it myself with the help of a lovely housekeeper, 1 cockroache came in the room (but this is normal for hot climate places, I suspect due to the gaps next to AC) and cleaning needs looked at. General cleaning is great but areas were missed.

The hotel might be a bit old, but it’s super clean, convenient, and there is no Popcorn Ceilings in the hotel rooms just in case you’re wondering. Popcorn ceilings gross me out and I despise hotels that are super expensive but yet have 1970’s ceilings. Yuk! Anyhow, this hotel was built in the 1920’s I think and still has its charm! Check in is via the app, and they have late check ins. I recommend parking directly across the street for $16 a night at the parking garage. It’s super cheap and safe. They also don’t charge you for water bottles as they have refill stations on each floor. They have a NO PET policy which I love because I’m allergic to Cat and Dogs and I can only stay at hotels that ban pets. I didn’t see ant children, so this was nice as I didn’t have to experience hearing crying annoying children. Also, there is No smoking so chances of getting a meth chemical filled room from vapers/smokers is minimal. Cons: There are No elevators so you have to walk your luggage upstairs. A little exercise will work the day off… lol. If you have mobility issues you might have to get a first floor room.

I should have know how things were going to go the moment I arrived to check in. The people in line behind me and I had to wait on the single front desk attendee to help three guests in the Lobby. Unfortunately for them, they were told their reservation was not found, even though they had received confirmation and their credit card had been charged. This put them out on the street to find other lodging.

At least my reservation was found, but the room depicted online was NOT the same room I booked…but I had no real way to prove it. I spoke with the front desk and the 800 customer service number, but was told there was nothing they could do about it as the hotel was entirely booked for the duration of my stay.

The lights in the “main” part of the extremely tiny room were all wired to one single switch. There were no table/reading lamps. I had to get out of bed to turn off the lights at night with no night light options available.

The King-Sized bed that took up half the room was very firm with scratchy sheets.

The lighting and vent fan in the bathroom were crazy as well. There was no option to use the bathroom light as a night light without having the VERY LOUD exhaust vent running. The bathroom door was warped and swollen at the bottom and could not be fully shut.

The bathroom sink drained SLOWLY! I put a complaint in through the app but the issue was never resolved.

Hair was found on the bathroom floor upon arrival.

The advertised 32” “television” was not a television but simply a monitor which guests were expected to cast their own apps if they even subscribe to any. No cable or satellite service is available. It was difficult to find a convenient plug to constantly keep my phone charging while wearing down my own device battery in order to watch something. The monitor was attached to the wall at the end of the bed and I hit my head on it at least six times during my stay.

The hotel has no ice machine available for guests and room cleaning and re-stocking is not a standard service.

Upon arrival, there were only 3 hangers in my room. After sending a request through the app, I was given three more. I guess better than none.

The room had only one window from which I could never pull back the drapes. There was a gap in between the air conditioner and the window. The window looked out to the alley behind the attached restaurant where there were racks of pots and pans, trash cans and a bunch of junk stored. Not much of a view and it was horribly NOT PRIVATE!! Restaurant workers were RIGHT OUTSIDE my window working, banging pans, emptying bottles and cans into the trash and talking until 2:00 a.m. each night of my stay! When I mentioned it to the front desk, I was offered ear plugs or a sound machine!!??!! Please don’t tell me they were not aware of this situation as I have read reviews from as far back as 3 years ago conveying the EXACT same issues as this and all the others listed above.

The staff was overall friendly, but it was very frustrating to see them have to try to come with excuses for the things I know they have heard hundreds of times and apparently management and ownership continually fails to remedy.

I have read this statement many times in customer reviews before, and for this stay it fits! “If I could give zero stars, I would.” This is the first time I have ever written a review. I felt I needed to as I have never experienced a hotel stay quite like this one. It is very unfortunate as I think this hotel has so much potential. I chose this location because it was in walking distance to relatives who I had come to visit. I often stay with them, but they just had a new baby and room at their place was scarce. I was so looking forward to staying at a cool boutique hotel…like the one advertised online…but I was completely duped and feel I was overcharged. Very disappointing stay! Pretty sure I will never stay at a Sonder establishment again. Anyone looking to stay at a Sonder property should be very aware of online advertising and booking...

This is the letter I wrote them.||Dear Sonder,|Please let me explain the reason for my failing score on my recent stay. Let me say the location of the hotel was the only positive that we enjoyed during our stay.|First off, when we entered the room and saw the tight quarters, we were a little shocked. The bathroom is certainly dated and could use some definite updating, The sink looked knocked out of place. The shower and bathroom floor with the rough concrete look was a little intimidating. The drain cover in the shower not being secured was also a nice touch that we found out the hard way.|Then, after traveling all day on Tuesday April 9th, (day we checked in) we decided to retire early for the evening. We were awoken at 9:00 PM by three of the restaurant kitchen staff, sitting in chairs eating their dinner outside our window talking and laughing loudly without care of disturbing patrons. I finally had enough and decided to open the shade and asked them to shut up. |Because of this ground level window with staff continuously outside we were unable to open our shades or curtains and made our stay feel as if we were in a cave. (I have pictures and hope I can supply them here).|The following day we were getting ready to go out for the day. We were going to lock some things up into the safe that was inoperative, not to mention not even secured in the cabinet. In my opinion that even defeats the purpose of a safe if it can be picked up and carried away.|My Fiancé decided to contact the desk about the safe and the noise complaint from the night before. They finally were able to bring us another non secured safe into the room and told us the restaurant was informed about the noise and it would not happen again. At that time, we decided to ask for no room service and just requested towel exchange. We were not comfortable with people in our room at this point. |That night we were out with people late and came home late and went right to bed. We did not notice any noise as again we were really exhausted.|Thursday night (our last night) we had a nice dinner at the Italian place one block over. We then decided to pack up some stuff and stay in for the evening to watch some TV. At about 10:00PM we were again awakened by excessive noise outside our room from what we believe to be either kitchen staff or maintenance.|To say the least we will not choose to stay with you in this location again.|I am still deciding which review sites to share this with as I am a member of several.||Regards,||This was their Lack Luster reply.||Thank you for the candid feedback after your recent stay with us. We’re sorry to hear that your experience with the noise keeping you up at night was not up to Sonder standards. Please reach out to us during your next stay and let us know if there’s anything we can do to make your experience more enjoyable. We’d love the chance to make it up to you...

Stayed for two nights. Pros: As others have mentioned. This is walking distance to everything. Comfortable and clean bed. The design of the bedroom was nice and modern. Had enough shampoo and conditioner in the shower. Has a mini fridge and coffee maker. Smart TV. Free WiFi. Valet up front which is the best thing to do. Parking is a pain around the area. You can park across the street at a garage though for a fee. Staff are friendly and attentive to your needs.

Cons: isn’t very clean. There’s some cobwebs by the bedframe and bedside lamps, the coffee maker is dirty and dusty as well. So I didn’t use it. What really turned me off though was the bathroom. wasn’t a fan of the bathroom. The sink was so small it was like kid size and the counter was so low. The style of the bathroom I didn’t get at all. It looked like the bathroom was not completely done? If that was a style they were trying to accomplish. It was all bare gray cement looking. I felt like I was taking a shower in prison. It also didn’t look very clean because the gray color mixes with the mold in the shower. Don’t look under the sink while you’re on the toilet.

First night we had hot water issues. I just wanted to take a hot shower after a long day. They got it fixed though after one and half hours. If you need hot showers, remember this is an older building and it is not a new issue. As others mentioned here it has happened before.

The room we had was noisy you can hear the pipes and the restaurant noise. Our room only had one window and we couldn’t even open it when it was stuffy because the restaurant employees next door walk pass it and we can see and hear them when they’re outside which was a lot when restaurant is operating. We kept the window and curtain closed because we didn’t want to see people looking at us while we watch TV in bed!...
