If the DIY hotel experience is a trend, it's a bad one! |In my opinion, the only reason to stay here is if you're going to a show at the Troubadour or another nearby establishment, or maybe visiting Pride Parade or Beverly Hills. But even then, I wouldn't stay more than a day or two.||Room was tiny, but clean and neat. I do recommend valet parking since overnight parking in BH is outrageous. It's around $30. One place charged $75 a night! Also, you never, ever want to park in a residential area, tempting though it may be. Nearly all LA neighborhoods make you have a "resident's" permit to park. They can and WILL tow.||I hate this new "let's see how many staff members we can get rid of and let the guests serve themselves" attitude many hotels have gotten. Sonder seems to be perfecting it.||At the Terrace, you are on your own. They have stations in at least two places where you can walk down and get extra towels, soap, etc. Fill up your own stuff .||Bare bones in the amenities department, all around. No elevator, no microwaves, no ice machine, crappy coffee maker. How WILL you heat up that leftover Thai food? You won't. Probably because they want you to shell out 40 bucks for a pizza in their overpriced restaurant. Filtered water only available in two places. No pitchers in room to keep you from having to trek back and forth for water.|There is a tiny little refrigerator that wouldn't be caught dead in a dorm room. Freezer can hold two burritos, but since there's no way to heat them up...||I suggest that if you travel by car you do yourself a favor, bring along an electric hotplate, or one of those travel kettles. Hell, bring your own microwave if you have a small one. Maybe a multi-pot. ||Ladies, there is virtually no place to put your makeup, jewelry, and accessories. Room is tiny, bathroom is tinier. There's no tub where you can use those expensive spa products you bought in Beverly Hills.||No comfy chairs, just a rickety table and some kind of uncomfortable bamboo chair that hurt my back.||Coffee maker was a faux Keurig that did not work well. Real Keurigs are bad enough, faux ones really suck. Again, if you love coffee and don't want to have to trek down to Bristol Farms when you want a cup of joe, bring your own water heating source and coffee rig. (don't forget the coffee!) ||If you paid less than $150 for your room- it's a deal, especially if you like walking around in toney neighborhoods. For l-2 nights. Longer than that and I would have been much more annoyed at the lack of stuff that even Motel 6's give you. ||However, if you think of this as camping and outfit yourself accordingly, it...
Read moreRoom i stayed in was about 200 sq/ft give or take (was a suite?). Its about 4-5 stars? 4.5 ish, you be the final judge. (Did this on mobile so spelling and grammar errors, please forgive)
If you live in a studio home (if you dont know what it is, google it; or, what ever you use to look up facts with), have lived in the city a long time (traffic, sirens, honking, occasional yelling, or loud music), or have lived in a small house in the city, this is for you. Location is key here, its smack in the middle of beverly hills and west Hollywood, and still somewhat close to downtown Los Angeles and the beaches of the California coast (about 20- 30 minutes to beaches or down town Los Angeles if you dont hit traffic). Google traffic patterns for the area, as they can sometimes make or break your trip to either destination. The continental breakfast is good (its free), with the option of paying for extra food from the kitchen (the restaurant hosts the continental breakfast and has a chef on site). The wifi is good enough to watch Netflix, amazon prime, or Disney+ (atleast while I was there). I sadly didn't bring any game consoles with me so i can't speak for gaming. Overall it was a great experience from someone who has lived in the city most of his life.
If you come from a big house in the wilderness where you can hear the deer screaming, this is not for you (or just have not lived in the city period), think of lower class Vegas rooms, where you might hear your neighbor having sex. Its that simple. The walls are kind of thin, so you will likely complain about the noise from the street in your review as well. The rooms will feel small for you. The location will likely feel unsafe for you (Dispite the fact the the property is covered by beverly hills police, with the station being down the street quite literally. If you dont know about beverly hills PD, the short and simple thing you need to know about them is that they are quick, easy on the eyes, have cool toys, and you know its just a 90210 thing). Its safe, but the feeling of safe is entirely different from person to person.
If you come from a quiet place and still want to visit, do it with an open mind. Ask if you feel uncomfortable with a room, the desk agents are pretty helpful and accommodating.
Cool. Well hope it helped. Ill see if i can add any pics from my...
Read moreReally terrible service. I booked online and completed all of their crap including prepayment for the room. I checked in put my stuff down and went out. I got an email saying that my credit card on file was declined. The deposit for incidentals. Okay. But when I got back to the room to get in, the code didn't work. It was because of that credit card. Nothing wrong with that credit card. I just think my company is very strict. So I had to go in online because apparently they had sent me an email. I'm on vacation. I don't look at my Gmail every 5 minutes and I needed to confirm that the credit card was okay. So I went in and I input the credit card again. Same card and my bank. Let me know through an email because that's how I have it set up that I had a charge. Okay everything's fine. At 10:30 p.m. I get another email ( again on vacation. Not checking my email) saying To confirm. I never saw it. I get another email in the middle of the night saying my reservation was canceled. I am literally in the room sleeping. But I see the email in the morning and I go talk to the woman at the desk. And yes the code again does not work. My friend and I who were staying there just made sure that one of us was in the room. After talking to the front desk person, they said that for some reason on their end the credit card didn't go through. Even if I did see that 10:00 email I would not have put my credit card in again because on my end it went through. It's incredible that they would lock me out of my room once with my stuff and pretty much hold my crap hostage. And then again make the code not work. This property is horrible and their system is horrible. I would never stay at a saunder again and this specific hotel avoid it like the plague anybody who sees reviews. The people there useless and the whole system unbelievably rude. When I talk to them again they said yes the reservation was canceled and likely Expedia would give me my money back. But I saw the original email and I only had until the 13th to cancel. So likely I will never see that money again. Most horrible rude hotel I've ever stayed in. Please tell me who checks their email every 15 minutes on vacation and if they needed a credit card they could have knocked on the door and gotten it. This system this Sonder system clearly doesn't work. Again, stay away...
