Greg's Tavern — Restaurant in Beverly

We had an amazing lunch at Greg's! Our server said she's new, but she was VERY capable -- friendly, attentive, and got everything right the first time. We started with Greek fries -- fantastic! Then, I had a Reuben, which was BIG and overflowing with good stuff. Their coleslaw is also very good -- nice portion size. My friends had a gigantic baked leg of lamb that looked and smelled great, and salads -- clearly fresh and piled high with brightly colored veggies. Everything was beautifully presented, and nothing was out of place. We were all satisfied, and all had leftovers. We did not sit by a window, but there was still plenty of natural light. The dining room is well-designed and not overly decorated. They placed healthy, real plants throughout, and there was ample space between tables. The seating here is comfortable for anyone, and the settings are tasteful and appropriate. When I saw the size of my plate, I knew the price was quite reasonable. I think mine was only around 16 bucks. And even the drinks were pretty cheap. Affordable, especially for this neighborhood! I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to ANYONE! I was told that the steak tips, salads, greek dressing fries, roast beef, pizza and seafood is all really good (pretty much the whole menu). I ordered a steak tip salad with house dressing and a small pizza on the side (i love pizza). My wife got a spinach and feta calzone. We also got a side of the greek dressing fries.

Their fries are puffy and crispy, they're like lightweight steak fries and they were very good. The Steak Tip Salad was great, as was the pizza. I ate half of both and took home the rest. The spinach and feta calzone was a ton of spinach and not as much feta, so make sure you add some grilled chicken or steak.

The atmosphere is what i liked the most. It didn't feel like a restauraunt, it was more like I was at a friends dining room. it felt comfy, the ambience was good, and the music was great too. plenty of TVs and a nice sized bar, also a back patio. My wife and I ordered takeout, the staff was very nice and friendly and food was ready quick. I ordered a Reuben which came with fries and really enjoyed it. My wife ordered a meatball sub… OMG the worst meatballs I have ever tasted. They were tiny, hard and very dry and gritty like they had been in the freezer forever. My wife just ate the bread and sauce and tossed the meatballs. I am the husband that eats all her leftovers and even I couldn’t eat them. I will say my neighbor raves about them so perhaps they just had a bad day. Reuben was fantastic though, lots of meat! I did call and the manager Donna was nice and offered a free sub next time.
