This location is classified on Google as a Café, looks/feels like a fast-food restaurant, but trying to be a coffee shop so I’m not quite sure how to review this location. We came in thinking it was just a coffee shop but after walking in, it’s definitely more fast-food than coffee. You can still feel the remnants of the old Taco Johns it used to be; drive-through, booths, and soda station. We ordered some food and drinks to give it a try; there’s something a little off about being able to order a burger and fries alongside your typical espresso drinks. As a coffee shop, this did not work for me. The coffee is WAY too sweet without much “coffee”. They didn’t know what a macchiato was so I ordered a short triple mocha but from the taste, I’m actually not sure it was made with espresso. It tasted more like a cup of coffee mixed with a hot chocolate packet though the deep-fried pickles might have thrown my taste buds for a loop.
I have to say the food was pretty good but doesn’t really stand out compared to other fast-food restaurants in the area. The atmosphere is pleasant enough with their black and white, rustic theme throughout. I think the food is a bit pricy though for what you get considering it’s pretty standard bar food. The staff was really helpful and friendly which was a welcomed introduction upon our entry.
Now that I’ve been here once, I can’t say for sure that I’d be back. It’s a hard no on the coffee for me and the food isn’t unique enough for me to consider it over anything else...
Read moreBeen to this location twice and can say that both times I've been disappointed in the service the first time and then the coffee we received the 2nd time. 1st time we went we had an issue with a gift card that I purchased. We went up to use the gift card and we were told there was nothing on the gift card even though I had purchased $15 on it not even a month prior (as a Christmas gift). When explaining the situation, whoever was shift lead accused my girlfriend of using the gift card when I was not with her, when this was not the case and overall was not helpful/accommodating. So from the start we lost $15 to this company with nothing to show. We decided to give this location another chance a year later, as we had chosen to take our business to other coffee companies (including the location on grand), and ordered a large molten chiller. The molten chiller we got had no ice cream and was rather ice, half and half, and black coffee blended (basically a black coffee that cost $10 including tip). We know this because we had a molten chiller the day before at the grand location and had no issues. Would highly recommend the grand location because this locations service has been below...
Read moreUPDATE: Went back to give their food a second chance. Went inside rather then drive through. Had two employees look directly at me and not even acknowledge that I was waiting to order. Second chance given, second swing and a miss. Since this isn’t baseball that’s game over for Blacksmith Coffee Company in my book. ORIGINAL POST: My wife brought me lunch from here while at work. She had a double cheese burger which was very tasty. We also got fries which were easily top 5 of all the fries in my life. They needed nothing on them! My Mushroom Swiss burger however was a much sadder story. First off it had lettuce on it and tomato on it, neither of which belong on a mushroom Swiss. Second it had only the flavor of canned mushrooms and Swiss cheese. The patty lacked any hint of salt of pepper as did the mushrooms. It didn’t seem they put any effort into making this burger have any semblance of taste. The bun however was a wonderful brioche toasted just right. If it were a chain restaurant I would not return. However being locally operated I may consider giving them a second chance. I Hope to update to...
